The album that finally made me realize why I don't click with most "dream pop" music: it's because most of it lacks the qualities this album does. There is a tangibility here that - while lost in a haze sometimes - is never truly out of arms length.

For me the Stripes are at their best when they're fuzzed and freaked out, but even the cuter quiet numbers have their charm! A love letter to both Nashville and Detroit - with one foot in the past and one in the present; no wonder rock critics adored this.

Day 25: Hassan Wargui – Tiddulka (2021)🇲🇦I've never thought of the banjo as a typical instrument in North African music, but this has proven me totally wrong. Together with the guembri & traditional percussion, the sound of this Amazigh/Berber music is beautiful & hypnotic. #MWE
