@GunnerTas Labor in Tasmania are just terrible. Unbelievably terrible. The fact that they don't have a chance against this completely incompetent government is mind blowing.
@john_macgowan As for abortion, the ability to have a personal opinion is always worth fighting for. But that sounds like you were actively campaigning to take away other people's ability to act on their personal opinion and make decisions about their own body.
@john_macgowan Ok, thank you, that's clear. You don't think there's room for supporting tourism or cultural activity (wilderness activities, mona, dark mofo etc) or research (medical, Antarctic etc), or even academic activity (if UTAS was to substantially lift its game) in Tasmania?
@BelindaJones68 Botox is the only thing that worked for me. The overworked muscles in my jaw had totally changed the shape of my face - to the point where the neurologist said I looked like a chipmunk 🐿️
@wendy_blan73259@rmassoud1@Meta Yup. It's really upsetting. @facebook and @Meta with their massive customer base and huge profits have zero concern for customers and no accountability

You know what, witches?
We don’t agree with all the pious folks now tweeting that we shouldn’t laugh at the drunken rorter because alcoholism is a serious issue.
Because while it’s true addiction is a serious medical issue which should be understood and treated without judgment or flippancy, in this situation we’d rather reserve our sympathy and kind words for all the people Barnaby Joyce’s actions have harmed over the years while he has quite obviously been unfit to make decisions on issues affecting the lives of a shitload of vulnerable people.
He voted to keep a cancer vaccine away from teenage girls. He voted for #Robodebt, which killed people. Just two days ago he led a protest trying to stop action on global boiling, which threatens all our lives. And he voted on many other issues (the Biloela family’s plight among them) where his willing collusion with Morrison and others helped unconscionable legislation pass by just one vote.
Maybe he was drunk or hungover for some of those votes, or during the time he was expected to consider the huge ramifications of those decisions? Maybe he’s regularly unfit to be making decisions on behalf of his own electorate’s needs? And maybe someone who can’t even recognise their own serious personal issues and get help isn’t a proper person to be a senior member of a government anyway?
A lot of this comes down to one thing: people who know what he’s like and by all accounts has been like for years are carefully looking the other way. There have been many rumours swirling about Joyce over the years, and we’ve all seen previous videos of his drunkenness and most of us have heard stories of even worse behaviour. Why couldn’t he be removed from his job? Anyone else with his seniority would be.
Surely there are provisions to name and investigate this kind of behaviour in one of Australia’s most important workplaces? But nobody with the power to do so has, or probably ever will.
So he gets to slur and stumble and clown his way through life earning a huge salary and voting on the rights and needs of people without a fraction of his entitlement, power and authority.
If laughing at him would help this bastard situation, we’d split our fucking sides. Anything to get him away from the privilege he’s enjoyed for years of living however he fucking likes while simultaneously judging and destroying, where possible, the lives of others.
He should resign in embarrassment to get the help he needs. He has enough money and support to do so. But he almost certainly won’t. Because Joyce cares for nothing and nobody but himself, and never fucking has.
When we tweeted on him earlier, it was to highlight two things which aren’t funny at all: the way the mainstream media have studiously ignored his shenanigans for a decade and only now use him for kicks because it helps them take the heat off Peter Dutton, and the fact that same media would eat any Labor, Green or Teal politician alive if they were caught out involved in the same or similar behaviour.
The hypocrisy is nothing less than stunning, and the media bears a lot of responsibility for Joyce’s being able to hide his problems for so long in plain sight. Right now, that same media should be framing him as a liability and a stupid bastard rather than as a clownish distraction, but they probably won’t.
Instead, they’re the ones framing this as some kind of minor or amusing side-issue, when it’s anything but. And they’re the ones partly responsible for all the disgraceful things Joyce has said and done while holding outrageous power and control over all our lives. And whatever he might decide to do in future.
Laugh if you want, but don’t forget to cry for his victims.
And get him the fuck out of the job.
He’s a dangerous individual and a fucking joke.
