@NeilBahadur I legit believe that future generations sussing out the political failure of 2010-2015 could do worse than consider that we gave Oscars to Argo, Spotlight, and The Imitation Game
@LingoUnbound Yes, but maybe in life you can end up like George Clooney: present for about 30 seconds, exited unceremoniously mid-sentence, and still listed above the title on the poster.
@BohemiaStable That's fascinating to know! Yeah, I'd love to be able to tear into Letterboxd's data by country/generation.
My games with Letterboxd Popularity started by trying to numerically quantify if Jean Renoir, for such a canonical director, is falling into neglect

@tnyfrontrow Using Letterboxd as an indicator among a generation/demographic of movie buff, here are how many user ratings have been logged for each director's "Most Popular" film...
Kurosawa: 452k
Bergman: 449k
Godard: 313k
Lang: 273k
Fellini: 270k
Eisenstein: 127k
And Renoir: 61k
@BohemiaStable I was surprised that those charted on here, ditto MYSTERIES OF LISBON. But the obscurity is Letterboxd's subjectivity, not mine...these are my "least popular" favorites, using their mysterious formula that combines user ratings, likes, and watchlists.
@leucocrystal@firagawalkwthme As someone who's never come close to being on a film set, the reputation I've heard of him is that he's very intense about everyone needing to be on the same page to get the scene right, but he never pulls rank as the richest/most famous actor on the planet
