Senator John Kennedy lays out his three key points on the Iran conflict...and it quickly turns into a stand-up routine.
KENNEDY: “Sean, in the words of Congresswoman Omar — I love you like a brother.”
“And I want you to understand I’m not trying to dodge your question, but I just want to answer it a little differently.”
“I don’t hate anyone, but I will shed no tears for Ayatollah Khamenei.”
“He won the coin toss, and he elected to receive. And boy did he receive.”
“May he rest in pieces.”
“He died with the blood of millions under his fingernails.”
Number two: “To defeat adversaries in today’s world, you need military power. But it takes more than that — you need political will.
“I have watched five, six, seven presidents refuse to stand up to the Ayatollah.”
“President Trump has. He’s got political will. He’s got Oranges.”
“And like him or not, the world is safer today because of what he has done.”
Number three: “Any fair-minded person has to believe the people running Iran are religious zealots.”
“They are nuts!”
“Iran was never going to stop its quest for a nuclear weapon.”
“And if these zealots — ten exits past normal — ever get a nuclear warhead, they’re going to use it.”
Democrats continue to be -against- everything and -for-nothing. We did nothing with Iran for 12 years of solid democratic rule (except give them billions of dollars???) and we got Oct 7 for it. Not one Dem thought about proactively dealing with Iran.
Democrats have severely lost the plot. They have no idea how behind they are on the Iran issue. There is a consensus among Dems that Dems will sweep the mid-terms; I think another rude surprise is in store.
@reddit_lies Psychological projection is a defense mechanism where an individual unconsciously attributes their own unacceptable thoughts, feelings, traits, or motives onto another person or group. It acts as a shield against anxiety by externalizing internal discomfort
@thomasmahler This is an overpaint of red dead redemption. So there is data here. You make a base game, then have AI extrapolate / impute over it (in real time, we hope).
@resetbasis Brutal.
I helped some clients exit their 11-12% office construction loans by handing back the keys to the debt funds, who confidently sought to "run the deal." Three years later, those buildings are empty, unfinished, and Daddy's money has not been marked to market.
New York. Dusk.
I’m so tired. I’m busy, but somehow, doing very little of value. My phone…it doesn’t ring like it used to. Where are the borrowers?
Glances at framed photos of hollow achievements on the wall.
I’ve gotta make some new loans…paper over the old. They’ll forget, time is kind. I think. Why did we raise so much money? No one needs debt funds these days. I tell people “we’re different” but that’s what all commodities say when they look in the mirror.
Phone rings. Warehouse lender. “Can’t keep extending these npls…tell me you have a plan.” Stare at the traffic below. “Bill…tell me you have a plan.” Snap back. “Umm, yea. Yes. For sure. We’ve got a plan.” (I have no fucking plan).
Who’s gonna buy these deals? They’re all fucked. Offer par with super cheap, short fuse debt? No. No, that doesn’t work anymore. We’ve run out of idiots. God, I’d kill for some more idiots.
Mark the loans, no bonus. Lie, bonus…maybe. Cant screw up the current fundraise. Gotta find new LPs who don’t know the old LPs. Fleece retail? No, exhausting.
“We’re not in a position to take a loss, we’ll just run the deals.” What a stupid thing to say. I don’t want 17 deals in College Park. What are we doing? My teams gonna quit.
Gotta dump some deals. The moneys been gone so long, don’t even miss the promote. I do miss the press though. Told me I had the Midas touch in 2022…what happened?
Unseasonably warm. Perhaps a walk. (Car honks in the distance)
Text from my wife. Shit. Trinity needs tuition for the boys. Sell the Montauk house? No…I’ll figure it out.
I miss the syndicators. I’m sure they’ll be back soon.
(Soft rain starts to fall, walk to the train)
@ramit This is literally what landlords do. It’s the business model. Some people are better than others at the model.
Good Landlords do raise rent, right up to market.
