Education is a beautiful gift, but the role of a teacher is not to mock the students or speak over their experiences. The most basic principle of teaching is understanding different learning styles and accommodating for each. Western schooling is discriminatory and we should attempt to decolonize our understanding of learning

The dismissal of folks who have not read certain texts or struggle with reading in general is my issue. My ancestors were illiterate but they were not fools. The fact that we did not have written word was one of the ways they justified colonizing us and the residue is evident

If you go outside and talk to people who are not college educated or specifically well read, you might start to understand how intimately they are aware of the workings of the system that is crushing them. There is wisdom outside of institutions and that does not devalue the work of scholars, it facilitates it
