붙이지 않는다. 굳히지 않는다. 바람이 불면 흩어지고, 파도가 면 사라진다. 그래서 영상이 남아있다.
Hey world, do you know why Koreans seem to have only a few surnames like Kim, Lee, Park, and Choi?
In Korea, there's actually something called bon-gwan in addition to the surname. Even if two people share the surname Lee, they belong to different clans if their bon-gwan is different.
For example, "Jeonju Lee" means the clan's bon-gwan is Jeonju and the surname is Lee.
Think of it like "Ludwig van Beethoven" in German or Dutch. "Van" indicates origin — so it would be like "Lee van Jeonju."
On top of bon-gwan, there's also a pa (branch). So the full form would be something like "Jeonju Lee clan, Hyoryeong-daegun pa, 20th generation descendant." Way too long. So everyone just says like "Lee" 😅
