Saltsea Chronicles is OUT. It felt like christmas morning to see all the lovely reviews and kind words trickle in today. Iโm so glad and relieved that itโs finally in peopleโs hands. Phew.
And now I sleep.
And thatโs a wrap. My final day at @gutefabrik was today. We got together on video call for one last social hang before we go our separate ways and it just reminded me of how rare it is to work and grow with a group of such uniquely wonderful people as this. I will miss it. ๐ญโค๏ธ
โ๏ธIf you are at GDC, come see @zerofiftyone_ and I speak about how we made Spoils, the in-house card game featured in @gutefabrik's Saltsea Chronicles โจ๏ธWe'll talk about mjnigame design, inspiration, AI and more - Friday, March 22 at 11:30AM ๐

Pretty gutting news here today. Iโm going to miss the DGF crew so much. This studio felt so refreshingly ahead of its time as a place to work in so many ways, and Iโve learned so much in the last three and a half years.
Weโre sad to share that we're halting production at @gutefabrik due to the challenging funding & investment scene in games right now. We downed tools earlier this month & have been doing our best to support the team who'll be looking for work from mid-March.
Full statement:
Also I managed to throw, dry, turn and carve the one in the last pic in less than an hour which is *wild* by my standards.
Looking forward to the day when I can do this sort of thing without needing to immediately take a nap afterwards
Iโm definitely getting a little better on the wheel with more practice. Itโs no longer quite so utterly heartbreaking when I ruin a pot, now that I can throw another one fairly quickly. RIP to the pots that perished in the name of practice today.
I threw my first decent bowl on the wheel yesterday! Iโd made a bunch of practice ones before but none of them were kiln-worthy.
Stuff like this doesnโt come easy for my dyspraxic brain, so Iโm pretty pleased ๐
I was on a recent episode of @eggplantshow. If you listened to the ep I was on back in 2021 and wondered why we were obsessively thinking about trick-taking games, well.. hereโs the reason!
Want to hear more about the development and design of our in-game trick-taking card game, Spoils?
Have a listen to @zerofiftyone_, @doougle & @sparklesdaria on @eggplantshow chatting about just that!

@hannahnicklin I only know V in passing and didnโt know they were into it but I can totally see how thereโd be a big interest overlap amongst games folks
I tried pottery on a wheel for the first time last weekend and now I can feel myself getting sucked into yet another new hobby rabbit hole.
The unused gear I bought from the time I tried stained glass art is side-eyeing me hard rn as I google for local pottery studios oops ๐
