Just like that, the first booking!
Came from a free FB marketplace post.
Spending all night getting the software and rental agreements dialed in to rent out the car trailer tomorrow morning.
Picked up the second and likely final trailer for the year.
Insurance is dialed, all registered and ready to rent.
Still working on the bookings automation.
Gonna be a good year.
I’m pushing to automate my trailer rental process as much as possible.
Bookings, deposits, rental agreements, document uploads etc will all be done through Booqable.
The first roadblock I’ve hit is insurance. I’m using an MBA utility trailer policy. They require that I manually contact each renters auto insurance company and verify that their liability policy extends to trailers.
This adds a lot of effort to the process and makes same day rentals almost impossible. Their only alternative is for the renter to purchase an extra liability policy directly from MBA for $20/day.
Still pondering how to navigate this. For now I’ll just be doing the extra insurance investigation myself.
Plans changed a bit.
This morning my local trailer dealer texted me that he just had a custom ordered car trailer delivered that didn’t match the requested spec.
It has a bunch of upgrades: moveable d rings, led signal light bar, lighted steps etc.
I’m picking it up Saturday for only slightly more than the standard version (which has a long lead time).
Got the trailer rental business bank account today.
Went with a small local bank. The service was much better than the large bank I used for my previous business. They offered assistance for other aspects of the business as well.
Almost ready to buy some trailers.
