Demand Number 1

-Gyanesh Kumar must resign within 48 hours. Initiate criminal proceedings against him. Answer who gave him the orders to steal votes.

Demand Number 2

-Put on hold all upcoming elections. Freeze SIR immediately. Roll back the voters list to January 2025. Constitute an independent inquiry commission that commands public confidence to probe all SIR related actions. Supreme Court which has much to answer for legalising Gyanesh Kumar’s illegalities must immediately order seizing of SIR related files and records and submission to Court.

Demand Number 3

Repeal the 2023 law on ECI appointments immediately. Draft a new law with active participation of civil society, an independent selection process that inspires public confidence.

If the resignation does not come through in 48 hours, we will launch a nationwide agitation and will end it only when all demands are fulfilled.

A man in Pune built a following by filming potholes.

He drove around the city with a camera, showing broken roads, damaged footpaths, and cars with illegal number plates. People watched because they recognised their own streets.

On 3rd September, at about 1 in the morning, the police came to his house and arrested him.

His name is Santosh Pandit.

He lives in Kothrud in Pune. He is a social media creator and civic activist. His videos question the quality of municipal work in the city and ask why it has not been fixed.

He is now in Yerawada Central Jail. On 8th September a court remanded him to judicial custody until 21st September.

Here is exactly what he is accused of, because this matters.

He was not arrested over the potholes.

The first complaint was filed on 31st August by a corporator. A second was filed at Kothrud police station by a 36 year old sanitation worker employed by the Pune Municipal Corporation.

The complaints allege that in some of his videos he used obscene, sexually coloured, abusive and defamatory language while attacking a state cabinet minister, a woman corporator and the Chief Minister.

He has been booked under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act.

Those are allegations. No court has decided them. He has not been convicted of anything.

Now the part that has caused the argument.

The second complaint was filed, and he was arrested at around 1 am the same night. Police then told the court he had 4 cases registered against him across different police stations, described him as a frequent offender, and said that if released he might upload similar content again and disturb public peace.

The Wire has reported a comparison that is hard to ignore. In the same state, 13 of the 39 ministers in the government face serious criminal charges. One minister alone has 38 first information reports registered against him.

None of them were collected from their homes at 1 in the morning.

That is the whole issue, and it is worth separating carefully.

Whether Santosh Pandit crossed a line is a question for a court. If a man used sexually coloured language about a woman corporator, a complaint is legitimate and the law should take its course.

The separate question is about speed.

An ordinary citizen's complaint about a minister can sit for years. A minister's associate files a complaint about a citizen and the arrest happens within hours, at night.

The same police, the same state, the same law.

He will be in Yerawada until at least the 21st.

Delhi, India. A music teacher from Manipur beaten to death at Kilokari under Sunlight colony police station, South Delhi. Chongtham Vikram has been residing in the area for atleast 10years in the area. He objected to loud noises and nuisance created in front of his house. What happened was around 7/8 people beaten him brutally. Vikram was living with his son and wife. His son rushed him to nearby hospital but he succumbed.

WRT Satya Niketan tragedy:

1. An independent criminal investigation of not just the owner, but the nexus between the owner, politicians, and other persons. The larger PG Mafia needs to be investigated.

2. The government to immediately begin a engineering-grade structural audit of buildings, especially schools, colleges and students accommodation within a time-bound manner, rehabilitate students, and enforce norms by sealing illegal constructions and penalising the owners.

3. WRT the 13 district committees constituted after Hauz Rani incident of June 3 2026: publish all its records, including its enforcement reports, including of Satya Niketan surveys, WITHIN 48 HOURS. Including:

a. All 13 district committees constituted after Hauz Rani June 3.
b. Names/designations of their members.
c. Every daily/weekly report submitted.
d. Number of buildings inspected district-wise.
e. Number found illegal/unsafe.
f. Number issued notices.
g. Number sealed/demolished.
h. Number where prosecution/action was initiated.
i. The date inspections stopped or were scaled down and the officer who authorised it.
j. Whether Satya Niketan was surveyed; if yes, what was found; if no, why a major DU student-PG hub was excluded.

These committees were to identify, audit, enforce, seal. They have become defunct within 3 months. Full transparency required.

4. A public searchable database showing whether each student establishment is sanctioned and safe.

5. The government should construct hostels for DU and other students. Entire DU, only around 7000 can be accomodated. But lakhs of students.

6. Compensation for families of dead: 1 crore. Injured 20 Lakhs.

7. The most important one: Ministerial accountability be fixed. Ashish Sood, the urban development & planning and education minister of Delhi. Why were the 13 district committees’ work wound down under him?
