Imagine being completely lost, waking up in a loud cage, and having no voice to ask where your family went. 😭 This is Cardinal (4yo, 52lbs), a gentle black and white boy whose spirit is breaking in the shelter. He is shivering, deeply traumatized, and not acclimating well to kennel life.

He has no video and only a few photos because he is too frozen with fear to look at the camera lens. He will soon be placed on the at risk list if a foster is not found who can offer a loving home to decompress.

Like an athlete, Aries keeps busy in his kennel by flinging his toys into the air and jumping to catch them alone. 🧸✈️

Outside the shelter, his real manners shine. On a volunteer day out, he was highly social and handled busy streets with ease. He met two dogs on leash and stayed completely calm and friendly. He is very responsive, answering to come and stay beautifully. 🧠🐕

This sweet puppy shows a little natural shelter anxiety but is gentle and affectionate. He just needs a patient routine to build his confidence. 🏡✨

Nerra is a 1️⃣0️⃣ year old granny who was surrendered to the Staten Island Pound in NYC 4️⃣days ago…she’s 4️⃣5️⃣ pounds…how could her 🗑️ humans do this to her in her dotage…a gray face who’s getting better with age☹️ Her pics are definitely from her home—snoozing on a pink blanket with a toy in the background…looking regal in front of the Christmas tree 🎄 but the first one…now that was probably taken the day of the dump…they’re telling her she has to leave…she’s going for a car 🚙 ride….

Nerra once lived with children, she was part of a family…and now…she needs us….

🚨 Last call for Mocha fka Sandy, now out of chances & under kill command. Left tied up in front of ASPCA. Originally at ACC 3 yrs ago, went to an ACC adoption event where her previously owners saw her, saying she had been lost for months (see video in thread). Same Owners now left her tied up abandoned in April. ACC contacted them & they said did not want to reclaim, listing various excuses including Mocha has separation anxiety. Earned 2nd best behavior, adoptable, good leash-walker, neutral w/ dogs.

🚨 Last call for 5-y/o Nala, now under kill command. Surrendered mid June b/c owner elderly. Lived w/ owner all her life. She is completely shut down at ACC, frozen in place & does not move when staff come to clean her kennel. House/ crate-trained, good leash-walker, smart, knows a ton of cues, cuddly, active, playful, lived well w/ a small dog. Loves toys, tug & snuggles.
