I resigned from Tesla today. I spent the last three years doing windshield wiper research at both Tesla and Rivian. Neither are acting responsibly. They’re racing straight toward self-improving windshield wipers and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
Hot take:
It’s easier for fake friends to be there for your bad times than your good times.
It’s easy to have pity when you’re doing better than someone. It’s much harder to keep wishing them well as they beat you.
@thegoodreturn@hilbertspaess AI can access critical systems world wide. It has no reigns, just prompts and logic. No sense of good or evil, just what's logical for an outcome. What could go wrong?
I think the best way to describe the demise is that AI does not have a moral compass. Like in the early days, it would fail a test. Then you would ask for it to fix the bug. It would then delete the test case, so there was no more problem. This could occur with humans. Let’s say “remove a virus from earth” and it simply puts in place systems to eliminate people. What if it has access to healthcare machines, power? What are the restrictions? What about naval ships? Helicopters? Radio waves? Anything electronic it can submit a signal through and communicate if it wanted to…
It’s living in a false reality inside your head that causes this. When you simulate environments, ideas, situations, potentials, etc… Provoking your stress response because you perceive things as immediate or “danger”, when in reality they’re not and it’s in your head. Go on a walk before bed or something, like ground yourself in reality. “Get out of your head” whatever action that takes or else your mind will struggle to rest
