Thanks to Joe for the opportunity to share many varied explorations of challenges my generation is now facing, how self-teaching could provide the ability to overcome many of them, battling inequality as never before, as well as other enthralling topics!

Why are some words common in writing but not in speech? I find this is true even of words with obvious conceptual value. Is there any language or theory which attempts to describe this phenomenon? I am curious because linguistic conventions often inform how our minds work.
Thinking in public is dangerous right now, as thought itself is currently under attack. For this reason, and many others, it was such a privilege appearing in conversation with someone so devoted to accurately representing his guests with nuance that is vanishing from the world.
Here's my conversation with Zev Weinstein (@zev__weinstein), a young man with a hopeful vision for the next generation of big ideas in science, math, and political discourse. https://t.co/WoRY3CEyUo
I have finally made an instagram to share a mix of personal and more serious aspects of my life. So far I’ve posted a few things of variable meaning to me. Follow to stay updated and enjoy some general Tom foolery.

This was a big deal for me as it was among my first ever experiences with podcasting and I loved the conversation. Thanks so much Stewart for helping to launch me as a podcast guest!
Here is my interview with @Zev__Weinstein. Zev is clearly an independent thinker and it was a joy to go deep on western philosophy and talk about how philosophy becomes dangerous in darker times, but is still really important:

I found last night’s debate appalling, particularly the discussion on immigration. It should be obvious that this issue requires delicate analysis of costs, benefits & rights. Instead, we heard simplistic & repetitive slogans. Also note, globalization often allows for a richer 1%
Views on coddling, helicopter parenting and the destruction of childhood’s feedback loops from inside generation z.

I’ve chosen not to locate myself on the traditional political spectrum. The main reason being that from my experience it doesn’t behave like a spectrum at all, in that many if not most people treat you in a binary manner simply depending on which side of the ‘center’ you choose.
End/ Most of us react positively to someone's ability to generate compelling music (unlike the usual complaints about the manipulative nature of social media engineering). I'm not suggesting that I know what to make of this, but I do think it is a comparison worthy of our time.
1/ Studies suggest that social media is engineered to be addictive. Every time we feel a notification in our pocket or see likes on our post we get a dopamine hit. Thus, many have come to the normative conclusion that social media is toxic b/c we're being “gamed” psychologically.
2/ Yet it is also the case that many professional musicians familiar with music theory, technique and production will admit that popular music is largely designed to deliver dopamine hits as effectively as possible (e.g. bass drops, 4-chord songs & triplets added for excitement).
If anyone else out there is trying to teach themselves piano, I would highly recommend checking out Terry Miles. https://t.co/HV5x8v8etM I found him very helpful. Who have you found that I should check out? Thx!
@ericweinstein Once all the Germans were warlike and mean but that couldn’t happen again. We taught the a lesson in 1918, and they’ve hardly bothered us since then. (Written satirically in 1965)
