In the Bible, it rained for 40 days and 40 nights.
Day 41 came and the rain stopped.
Moses committed murder & hid in the desert for 40 years.
Year 41 came, and God called him to help rescue Israel.
Moses went up on the mountain for 40 days.
On day 41, he received the Ten Commandments.
The Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years.
Year 41, they walked into the Promised Land.
Goliath taunted Israel for 40 days.
Day 41 came, and David slew him.
Jonah preached a message of repentance to Ninevah for 40 days.
On day 41, God stopped His plan to destroy them.
Jesus fasted and was tempted for 40 days.
Day 41, and the devil fled.
After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples for 40 days.
On day 41, He ascended into Heaven.
All this to say…don’t quit. The rain will stop, the giant will fall, and you will enter your “promised land.” Don’t give up at 40.
41 is coming.
The Pope’s Prayer intention for the month of September is to pray for care of water:
“Lord of Life, you have given us the gift of water, source of fruitfulness, freshness, and hope. It quenches thirst, nourishes the earth, and heals wounds.
We thank you because it is also a symbol of your grace and love that renews us through baptism.
Today, we ask you to teach us to safeguard it with gratitude, justice, and responsibility.
Forgive us for turning it into a commodity, forgetting that it is a universal gift, a right without borders, meant for all your children.
We see with pain, so many brothers and sisters, who lack clean water, who walk for miles to find it, who become ill due to its scarcity.
May your Spirit make us pilgrims of the essential, able to live with simplicity, denouncing waste and pollution, defending the right of every brother and sister to drink without fear and without inequality.
May our care for water, be a sign of love for the Creator, and a commitment to the lives of the poor, educating new generations to value and protect the earth's resources.”
Ewan ko sa iba, but in grade school we have been writing stuff on Formal Theme and Informal Theme (both in English and Filipino) without technological aids. Literally handwriting paragraphs while inside the classroom.
And I thank the old DECS curriculum for that. 🙏
