Today, I had the distinct pleasure and honour to pay a courtesy call on His Excellency Alexander Van der Bellen @vanderbellen - President of Austria, at the Presidential Chancellery(Präsidentschaftskanzlei), in the historic Hofburg Imperial Palace, Vienna.
I conveyed our appreciation of Austria's steadfast partnership and commitment to the UN family in Vienna, a city that continues to embody the spirit and practice of multilateralism.
As host country of @UN_Vienna, Austria continues to set a strong example, anchoring a system of shared purpose at a time when the world needs it dearly.
I drew from his counsel and insight at the start of my tenure as the DG, UNOV and ED, @UNODC, and very much look forward to deepening the cooperation between UN Vienna and Austria.
Glad to welcome the new @UN_Vienna Director-General and @UNODC Executive Director @Monica_Juma_ to the Vienna-based organizations family.
At a time when effective multilateralism matters more than ever and international organizations face growing challenges, her dynamism and experience will be important in strengthening cooperation. I look forward to working together on our shared priorities, and she can count on the @IAEAorg as a close partner in the important work ahead.
Congratulations to Ambassador @NuursViews, former Spokesperson of IGAD Executive Secretary Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, and now Spokesperson of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahamoud Yusuf (AU).
Ambassador Nuur Sheekh is a friend and brother whom I deeply respect 1/2
BREAKING: President Trump says that “effective immediately” the U.S. will start to blockade ships trying to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz. Follow AP’s live updates. https://t.co/ZIkLdcH2vt
They circled the Moon while the rest of us stayed glued to screens full of war and outrage.
Humanity can reach farther than ever before, yet still can't reach across a border to shake hands.
We're smart enough to survive space.
When will we be wise enough to survive each other?
Diplomatic efforts for peaceful settlement of the ongoing war in the Middle East are progressing steadily, strongly and powerfully with the potential to lead to substantive results in near future. To allow diplomacy to run its course, I earnestly request President Trump to extend the deadline for two weeks. Pakistan, in all sincerity, requests the Iranian brothers to open Strait of Hormuz for a corresponding period of two weeks as a goodwill gesture. We also urge all warring parties to observe a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to allow diplomacy to achieve conclusive termination of war, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region.

No official comment from Iran yet on Trump’s claims of talks but its semi-official Mehr news agency says there are no negotiations.

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.
I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.
It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.
May God bless America.
The Memo:
The scores of deaths and destruction of property resulting in heavy losses countrywide, are a painful and critical food for thought.
Despite repeated alerts from the weatherman, the Nairobi City County govt failed to unclog drains ahead of the heavy rains.
The authorities should not wait for the next disaster to strike to act.

Personal Safety During Floods
Flood waters can rise rapidly, often catching people off guard
The first and most critical step is to move to higher ground immediately.
Even shallow water can sweep a person off their feet or carry vehicles away.
