At the heart of the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) in the U.S. and Japan’s Hyper-K project are elusive particles called neutrinos.

These near-massless particles could explain why matter survived the Big Bang while antimatter vanished.

Both labs will fire neutrino beams through the Earth to detect subtle differences in behavior between matter and antimatter.
