Pakistan threatened Lord’s Test boycott after broadcaster Sky Sports telecast interview with Imran Khan’s two sons which was actually recorded at the Lord’s Long Room a day before the Test. PCB wanted SKY not to air the interview during Lunch break else they wouldn’t take the field post Lunch.
The 18-min interview done by Michael Atherton (one of the 21 captains to sign the letter to Pak PM) was shown and Pak did take the field too

Prime Minister @andyburnham and Foreign Secretary @Ed_Miliband : how much longer will Britain remain silent?

For three years the father of my two sons, and Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has been brutally penalised by his political opponents, in a personal vendetta by Army Chief, Asim Munir,  which according to the UN,  amounts to torture and which  is now taking a potentially fatal toll on his physical and mental health. 

He has endured 3 years of solitary confinement. For nearly ten months now his family has been denied contact with him. He has been deprived of the most basic human contact, denied access to books, lawyers and doctors.

The international human-rights standards are unequivocal. Under the UN’s Nelson Mandela Rules, solitary confinement lasting more than 15 consecutive days is prohibited and amounts to torture.

He has endured this treatment not for 15 days, but for three years.

Pakistan’s own Supreme Court has now intervened: ordering comprehensive  medical treatment, access to his personal doctor, regular family visits and twice-weekly calls with his sons.

Yet those orders are being defied.

This is no longer simply a Pakistani political matter. It is a human-rights emergency.

He has deep and lifelong ties to Britain. He studied at Oxford University, captained Oxford University cricket and spent years playing county cricket in England. His relationship with this country stretches back more than half a century. His charitable activities were internationally recognised, and  include building the only free cancer hospital in Pakistan as well as a university.

His sons, my two boys, Sulaiman and Kasim, are British citizens. They have been forced to watch their father’s health decline from thousands of miles away, prevented from visiting him, denied visas, publicly threatened by government officials with arrest themselves, and even denied court-mandated regular phone calls. 

I have repeatedly appealed to the UK government to intervene. Purported attempts at back channelling have evidently failed. The previous Foreign Secretary @DavidLammy informed me in writing that Britain would not  intervene if my sons, British citizens, are arrested when they travel to Pakistan to visit their father. 

@FCDOGovUK: Britain must now speak out publicly and unequivocally. Demand that Pakistan comply with its own Supreme Court;  restore Imran Khan’s medical access, his right to see his family, end his prolonged isolation and uphold his fundamental human rights.

Pakistan is a Commonwealth country. Britain has a long and proud tradition of standing against arbitrary detention, inhumane treatment and the denial of fundamental rights. Those principles mean very little if we invoke them only selectively and neglect them when inconvenient.
This an appeal to the new Burnham government  to please now do the right thing.

۱- عمران خان پر کیچڑ اُچھالنے والا ہر شخص ذلیل و خوار ہو جاتا ہے، اُسکا انجام بھی ٹھیک نہیں ہوتا

۲- نو اپریل 2022 کو جب عمران خان کو اقتدار سے ہٹایا گیا، ہمارے ملک سے برکت اُٹھ گئی، ہر قدم پر بارودی سرنگ پھٹی، ہر فیصلہ بیک فائر ہوا، معیشت برباد، پٹرول، بجلی مہنگی اور مہنگائ کا طوفان، اگر کوئ اچھا کام کرنے کی کوشش کی وہ بھی اُلٹا پڑ گیا

۳- بین الاقوامی سطح پر جس حکمران نے عمران خان کے خلاف سازش کی، وہ بھی برباد ہوگیا

۴- پاکستان میں جس نے عمران خان کے خلاف لندن پلان کی قیادت کی، وہ صرف کبوتر اُڑانے کے قابل رہ گیا

۵- جسنے لندن پلان میں حصہ ڈالا وہ کسی سرکاری تقریب میں کھڑے ہونے کے قابل نہیں رہا، سُنا ہے کہ ایک موقع پر پیشاب نکل گیا،

۶- لندن پلان کا ایک اور اہم کھلاڑی اہم قومی میٹنگ میں چاروں شانے چت گر گیا، کبھی دیکھا ایسا؟

۷- جسنے سائفر پر عمل کروایا، آخری دفعہ سُنا کہ باتھ روم میں گر گیا، آئ سی یو پہنچ گیا اور اُسکے بعد آجتک اُس کی شکل نہیں دیکھی

۸- جس موٹیویشنل سپیکر کا طوطی بولتا تھا، عمران خان کے خلاف ایک دفعہ بول کر زیرو ہوگیا

۹- کرکٹ کا انتہائی مقبول کھلاڑی عمران خان کے خلاف بول کر نفرت کا نشان بن چکا ہے

۱۰- جو جو صحافی، اینکر، یو ٹیوبر عمران خان کے خلاف بولا، اُسکا پروفیشنل کیرئر تباہ ہو گیا

۱۱- جس سیاست دان نے عمران خان کو چھوڑا، اُس کی سیاست ختم ہو گئی

۱۲- جو رجیم چینج کے اہم کردار تھے، اُن میں سے کئی ملک سے فیملی سمیت، بچوں کی نوکریاں ختم کرا کے بھاگ گئے، کسی کو نہیں پتہ کہاں چھپے ہیں

۱۴- جس صحافی نما نے عمران خان پر رقیق حملے کیے، وہ اپنے بیٹے کو کرکٹر بنانے کیلئے زندگی بھر محنت کرتا رہا، آخر میں سفارش سے بیٹا لانچ کیا تو بیٹا پُھس ہو گیا

۱۵- عمران خان کی مقبولیت کم کرنے کیلئے دُنیا کا ہر حربہ استعمال کیا لیکن عمران خان کی مقبولیت دُنیا میں ایک منفرد ترین مقام حاصل کر گئی

مجھے تو ایسا لگتا ہے کہ عمران خان کے دشمن اللہ کے قہر کا نشانہ بن جاتے ہیں، ورنہ اتنے تسلسل کے پچھلے چار سال میں اتنے واقعات نا ہوتے اور یہ سلسلہ آج کی تاریخ تک تھم نہیں رہا، اسلئے لوگ عمران خان کو ولی سمجھنے لگے ہیں،

میں اگر عمران خان کا مخالف ہوتا اور ایسی صورت حال دیکھتا تو پیروں میں گر کر معافی مانگ لیتا کہ مجھے معاف کردو،
