Basically medium tier insult is the highest offense possible. Giving you the highest repercussions. Now for the highest tier insult ( attacking Xi Jiping himself), the repercussion is NOTHING. Chinese media will pretend you didn’t say anything. No discussion of this topic will be allowed in any form. For instance if Mbappe calls Xi a dictator nothing will happen. Current president is always more sensitive to past presidents. However once it becomes so sensitive it loops back to nothing happens. Hopefully that makes sense. Hard to explain to a non Chinese.

There’s levels to this. The lowest insult is actual racism ( slanted eye, using the C word), your name can still appear in China. You can still sell in China but people will understandably cancel you. Attacking Mao is a middle tier insult, higher than actual racism cuz no Chinese media dare to actually translate. They can only report bs like “ feelings are hurt”. Medium tier insult will get you banned completely in China. Laliga is banned. China will no longer allow games with Mbappe to be aired. This includes all Chinese social media. Includes all his national games including the World Cup. Basically straight ban as if he doesn’t exist
