Our scholars are absolutely amazing.
With so much talent across our schools, something great is always happening. I’ll admit, it’s impossible to be everywhere, and I truly wish I could attend every single event. But when I do get the chance, I block out everything else and soak up every moment… because moments like these remind me exactly why we do this work.
Congratulations to BTW Magnet and all of our incredible students and staff.
The Crescendo showcase last night was nothing short of phenomenal. Montgomery’s future is bright, and it was on full display.

It was truly an honor to meet one of my favorite actresses, @octaviaspencer Ms. Octavia Spencer. Knowing that she once walked the halls of Highland Avenue and Jeff Davis (JAG), learning from some truly incredible teachers, is both humbling and inspiring.
What made the moment even more special was seeing her return to give back, reading to our scholars and engaging them through her published book. Watching our students light up in that moment was absolutely heart-touching.
She is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when great teachers, strong schools, and big dreams come together. Thank you, Ms. Spencer. We are forever grateful!
