Fellow artists and art lovers, I’d really appreciate your support! ❤️
I’m so close to making it into the Trending section on ArtStation.
Those of you who know ArtStation know how big of a deal that is. 🤙

I’m currently reading Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act: A Way of Being. I’ve been reading it for almost six months because I take time to reflect on every chapter and try to apply its ideas to my own work. I highly recommend it to every artist, especially those who, like me, have gone through a creative crisis.
As I was reading, I came to an important realization. For a long time, I thought I had made a mistake by spending so many years studying before creating the kind of art I truly wanted. But now I see it differently: first, you learn the tools that allow you to express your ideas, and only then do you look for inspiration.
For some context: I spent the last eight years studying art. I graduated from an art academy, earned a master’s degree, and dedicated most of my time to learning. Then reality hit. Finding your own artistic voice, navigating an oversaturated market, relying only on your artistic intuition, and realizing that in art there is rarely a clear “right” or “wrong.”
For the past six months, one question kept repeating in my mind:
“Why did I spend so many years studying? Why did I put my life and simple pleasures on hold?” Now I finally have an answer. I needed all those years so I could express the way I see the world—to communicate my ideas without being limited by technical difficulty. Not to simplify them, but to give them the form they deserve.
Is this the right path? I don’t know. There is no single right or wrong direction in art.
Sometimes it feels like being a 2D artist means you have to know everything.
Besides learning the fundamentals—composition, anatomy, color, and lighting—you’re also expected to understand 3D, animation, and even how to work with AI… without actually relying on it. 🤯
Honestly, all of that feels possible with enough time and practice.
The scariest part for me is learning languages. My brain just doesn’t seem to be wired for it. 😭
Okay, I’ve finished the second piece for the Black & White Open Call. Now all that’s left is to complete the story with the third illustration.
I can’t wait to finally add color to this series 🤩
