When Ayotte announced Tuesday that Broderick resigned his position after being named the first fund administrator in October of 2022, the former New Hampshire Supreme Court Chief Justice told https://t.co/S3QhyFq1Fm that was not the case.

Under the new law, Ayotte has the power to appoint the fund administrator and the attorney general has final say over any settlement payments for the victims.

The shared Khmer cultural heritage, including disputes over temples like Preah Vihear and Ta Muen Thom, fuels nationalist fervor. Past incidents, such as the 2003 riots in Phnom Penh over false claims about Thai ownership of Angkor Wat, highlight how cultural disputes can escalate quickly.

The U.S. has advised its citizens to avoid border areas, while Japan has urged de-escalation. However, external powers are unlikely to intervene directly due to the localized nature of the conflict, leaving room for China to play a larger role.
