The database is rarely the bottleneck.

More often it's:

bad assumptions
poor observability
connection management
unnecessary complexity

Years ago, we spent days tuning SQL queries for a production issue.

The real problem?

Connection pool exhaustion.

We optimized the wrong thing because we started with assumptions instead of data.

Measure first.

Optimize second.
