Which @ZinsserUK primer do you reach for when tackling stains — and why?
We use all three, but it really depends on the job:
🟥 BIN (Shellac-based): Brilliant on pretty much anything indoors. We use it for small areas of heavy staining — quick, reliable, and bulletproof.
🟨 Cover Stain (Solvent-based): Great for larger sections and exterior work. Proper adhesion, solid coverage, and still one of the best all-rounders.
🟩 BIN Aqua (Water-based): Not quite as tough on the worst stains, but it handles most situations and is far quicker and easier to use over large areas.
Not trying to teach anyone to suck eggs here — just genuinely curious what everyone else is using and why.

Anyone else use @ZinsserUK Peel Stop to stabilise peeling paint on exterior wood?
I know I'm going to get a load of hate from the older Decorators, but it works well.

Another exterior job ticked off the 2025 list, only a couple more to go before winter kicks in.
This one finished with Chalke Green on the sills with the usual black / white contrasts, all finished in @zinsseruk allcoat exterior satin.

Another exterior job for some of our team this past week or so… plenty of prep gone into this 1 before being finished in @zinsseruk all coats, exterior satin. Back next week to finish off once the scaffold is up.

What is the difference between these two?
@ZinsserUK Gardz – A water-based sealer/primer designed for porous, chalky, or damaged drywall/plaster. It soaks in, hardens, and seals surfaces like torn drywall paper, skim coats, calcimine paint, or chalky old paint so they’re stable for repainting.
Zinsser Peel Stop – A clear, flexible binder for exterior or interior surfaces with peeling, crazing , or flaking paint. It glues down the edges of remaining paint to help prevent further peeling before topcoating. Great on any porous surface, like masonry, wood and plaster.
