By prohibiting the development of superintelligence, we can prevent the risk of extinction that AI scientists warn of.
Right now, MPs are deciding the bills they'll introduce to Parliament.

This can’t go on. Week by week, the streets of London are being polluted by hate, violence, and antisemitism. Members of the public are being mobbed and intimidated. Jewish people in particular feel threatened. Further action is necessary. 3/3
(1/2) Why has the UK Gov authorised the use of bee-killing pesticides, when we’re supposed to be fighting the #climate and #nature crises?
@DefraGovUK & @VictoriaPrentis, please listen to the experts & reverse this terrible decision

This rarely-seen glass octopus was caught on camera.
The clear sea creature was filmed by an underwater robot during an expedition off of the Phoenix Islands, more than 3,200 miles northeast of Sydney, Australia.
There’s a loophole in UK law that allows people entering the UK to bring in up to 20kg of shark fins. It’s eaten in soup but is also sold in some fish and chip shops...

Just finished this book. Unbelievable, some people in this world are so strong and what they've been through never ceases to shock/ amaze me.
Well worth a read!

I’ve given my #voicefortheplanet to call for a #newdealfornature. Nature is vital for our health, our livelihoods and our wellbeing. Let’s set the planet on a path to recovery by 2030. https://t.co/F4diwmGK6W #naturematters https://t.co/ag5gKATJPO #naturematters
@nataliezar@nature I would be interested in reading material! I have been looking for things which are not based on ideology and which aren't written from an "us v's them" perspective. (I am unable to message you on twitter)
@nataliezar@nature In terms of addressing the issue; I saw someone earlier mention that a great thing journals like nature could do is actually make their journals freely accessible, making science accessible for the masses
@nataliezar@nature I agree with the 1st half and see your point that culture can influence interest. I am however confused by what you mean with regards to the second half. Is this an assumption that because a culture is dominated by white people it's inherently racist?
7 signs you might be politically brainwashed and just contributing to partisan warfare instead of actually helping advance humankind:
1. You primarily watch news from just one side of the political spectrum
It is good to have & share strong views when they are formed through genuine learning and introspection.
But if you wield those views as a weapon rather than as an invitation, then you are simply giving in to your lower impulses and will only incite others to do the same.
@nature "Science is unbiased." I can't help but think it is swayed by ideologies and political agendas. How can we trust science when one of the leading journal articles posts something with war provoking vocabulary and happily puts people in boxes. There's no room for a conversation.
Every council across the U.K. should aspire to this - it’s beautiful and productive and what people want from a new normal for wildlife and the environment . Top work Musselburgh !
