You might not want to hear it, but somali-owned restaurants are edging everyone else out because they cook like they are going to eat that food themselves if no one buys it. If the people cooking the food can’t/won’t eat it themselves, don’t buy it.
Somali coach Fatah Abdirahman has signed a 4 year deal to become the head coach of Sønderjyske, a Danish Premier League team.
Sønderjyske were in the Europa League just 3 years ago and with Fatah they hope to challenge the likes of Copenhagen for the league!! Massive news!! 🇸🇴💙

🚨 ‼️ Sources are unwilling to disclose the price Chelsea want for Cucurella. However, Chelsea were more willing to put a set price on the public record for Enzo Fernandez after stories believed to have been sourced from the Argentine's camp, claimed the midfielder was available for considerably cheaper than the £107m Chelsea paid in 2023. This afternoon, I had the great privilege of receiving an impromptu visit at Dr. Kalebi Labs from Dr Henry Wanga, one of Kenya’s seniormost radiologists and truly a pioneer African interventional radiologist north of the Limpopo and south of the Sahara.
Dr Wanga had graciously taken time to come over and discuss an image-guided biopsy case he had submitted to @DKLDrKalebiLabs which had delayed slightly beyond our usual TAT. On arrival, he requested an audience with me and jokingly told the receptionist he wanted to see his “son.” The moment I heard Dr. Wanga was at reception, I immediately dropped everything I was doing to personally welcome him, even though I found out that the case had been assigned to my colleague and our DKL Chief Anatomical Pathologist - Dr Muthoni Kirimi.
As it turned out, after hearing from Dr Wanga and jointly reviewing the case with Dr Kirimi, the biopsy represented a rare and fascinating diagnosis - one of those challenging cases that can leave even a highly experienced pathologist stumped when looked at without proper clinicopathological and radiological correlation🔬🩻
It was only after obtaining the full imaging and clinical details from Dr Wanga that we were able to crack the case, once again highlighting the powerful partnership between radiology and pathology in modern patient care.
This was indeed a joyful moment for me to reconnect with Dr Wanga, whom I had not directly engaged with from the time I went on family sabbatical in 2021 through the establishment and growth of DKL from 2024 to date.
Back in the day I have had the privilege of knowing Dr Wanga since my time as a medical student at the University of Nairobi nearly three decades ago. Even before that, I knew of him as our local village doctor in Kambi Muru within Kibra, where he faithfully ran a private community clinic for many years serving ordinary wananchi with great dedication.
Later, I had the honour of working alongside him professionally for over a decade as a pathologist supporting many of his unusual and complex biopsy cases from Kenyatta National Hospita (KNH) and his clinic at General Accident House. We also had the opportunity to serve together in the Kenya Medical Association (KMA) National Governing Council for well over a decade, including he serving as KMA National Vice-Chairman.
Dr Wanga remains a true pioneer in Kenyan rardiology scene, with decades of experience in vascular and interventional radiology, image-guided procedures, and minimally invasive interventions at institutions including KNH and currently based at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTTRH).
I organized for him a comprehensive guided tour of our one-of-a-kind ultramodern central referral laboratory at DKL, and I could genuinely see he was deeply impressed for it truly blew him away.
At one point, while explaining how happy he was to be re-engaging with my and my lively team at DKL, he quipped with a smile that in African lore, “𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙊𝙡𝙙 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙥𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙇𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝘿𝙞𝙚” - first time I’m hearing this proverb, which of course, had absolutely nothing to do with elephants or grass 😉
I very much look forward to working even more closely with Dr Wanga in our exciting New Era of Lab Services at DKL.
