L1 marketing wars were fought over block time and Time-To-Finality (which vary by consensus mechanism) until L1 creatives realized that, by putting a supermajority of the stake weight very close to each other, they could advertise faster times

Now L2s are competing to advertise fast block times but here the distinction doesn’t even make sense. There is one sequencer and no consensus communication; the amount of work chosen to chunk into 1 “block” is basically arbitrary

Taking this logic to the extreme, a sequencer could just stream each transaction individually and call it a "block"
