@_RachaelTV, tonight you showed a graphic about the average number of hurricanes versus how many we’ve had so far this year. But it wasn’t clear if you meant the number we usually have at this point in the season or the average for an entire year. Which was it? Thank you!
@SenatorMenendez@CoryBooker Please read this short thread to understand why the Warner crypto amendments to the #InfrastructureBill are terrible for America and will strangle US innovation in the most innovative tech space today.
1/ Dear Senators, still confused about why the @markwarner amendments (yes, all 5 of them) fall short of fixing the #crypto provision in the #infrastructurebill? Here are 3 things you need to know.
@SenatorMenendez, @CoryBooker, please protect American tech jobs by voting for the Wyden crypto amendment to the infrastructure bill. The Warner amendment will force innovation and American jobs overseas with impossible regulation on regular citizens. It will NOT bring tax $$!
The Warner-Portman-Sinema amendment will drive innovation outside of the United States and punish average citizens for creating new, free technology for anyone to use. Please vote YES on the Wyden-Lummis-Toomey amendment and NO on the Warner-Portman-Sinema amendment!
@SenatorMenendez, @CoryBooker, the latest update a Warner amendment is a small step in the right direction by excluding green stakers in addition to miners, but it still would crush innovation and punish American creators.
It would force open-source citizen developers to register as brokers and perform KYC on anyone who uses the free software they create. This would be literally impossible to comply with.
The first principle here should be: DO NO HARM.
The Warner-Portman-Sinema amendment will drive developers to create software outside of the U.S.
I urge my colleagues to oppose it and join me, @RonWyden, and @SenLummis in protecting American innovation.
Now isn’t the time for the IRS to pick winners and losers with a new technology.
Crypto has the potential to be the future of the internet.
How foolish to crush it over a tax provision that possibly raises just $500 million per year more in a $1.2 TRILLION bill.
.@USTreasury wants maximum flexibility to regulate and tax crypto as they see fit. Congress should not allow that to happen.
We need to have this debate in public and in full, especially before potentially disruptive changes are made that push crypto overseas.
The Warner-Portman plan exempts bitcoin miners, but not other transaction validators or software developers who create these platforms.
What does that mean? Two identical services could receive dramatically different regulatory treatment depending on the technology used.
While I appreciate that my colleagues and the White House have acknowledged their original crypto tax had flaws, the Warner-Portman amendment picks winners and losers based on the type of technology employed. That’s horrible for innovation.
@SenatorMenendez, @CoryBooker
The Wyden-Lummis-Toomey amendment protects the planet by allowing alternatives to dirty bitcoin mining and protects New Jersey jobs. You must vote for it if you care about the environment!
@SenatorMenendez, @CoryBooker
The Warner-Portman amendment to the infrastructure bill will be a DISASTER for the environment. It protects polluting Proof-of-Work cryptocurrencies and makes it impossible to create a greener cryptocurrency industry in the US.
