@baysorensen@JollaHQ@GrapheneOS "i dont hold the information. Graphene does" - how on earth anyone could have that info in public, really especially Graphene...
but as I said, it was not Jolla that operated in Russia but Open Mobile Platform: https://t.co/JsJ7cK782Y and it was not Sailfish OS but Aurora OS...
@baysorensen@JollaHQ@GrapheneOS any proof? AFAIK Jolla did nothing in Russia but there was a local entity (OMP?) that forked Sailfish OS (Aurora OS) and adapted locally.
They even cut all ties after invasion in Ukraine - and got into terrible financial situation that took ages to resolve...
@baysorensen@JollaHQ@GrapheneOS "Russia ties, money laundering, backdoor in software. The list is long, but you dont care?" - could you elaborate it a bit? none of them holds, AFAIK...
10,000 pre-orders. Goal reached. We set a goal together. You made it happen.
What started as a community wish is now a production reality. The Jolla Phone is happening, shaped by the people who will use it.
Thank you. This is what community-driven development looks like. ❤️
Next stop: MWC Barcelona. Come find us.

After a long silence in X, @JollaHQ is back. And we're bringing something Europe desperately needs.
The Jolla Phone: Europe's independent smartphone running #SailfishOS 5.
In 2013, when we founded Jolla from @nokia MeeGo’s ashes, people called us naive. "You can't compete with iOS and Android," they said. They were right about one thing: we weren't trying to compete. We were building an alternative.
Today, that alternative matters more than ever.
Every Android phone, every iPhone — they all phone home to California. Your data, your habits, your conversations: processed, analyzed, stored on someone else's terms. GDPR promised European digital sovereignty. But what good are data protection laws when your entire digital life runs on American infrastructure?
This isn't about nationalism. It's about choice. It's about owning your device instead of renting it. It's about a phone that respects you enough to give you:
• Sailfish OS 5 — the only commercially viable European mobile OS
• A physical privacy switch (kill camera/mic when you want)
• A replaceable battery (remember those?)
• Android app compatibility (because we're practical)
• No Google Play Services siphoning your data
We spent 12 years in the wilderness, keeping Sailfish OS alive through die-hard community support. While the mobile OS graveyard filled with names like Symbian, MeeGo, Firefox OS and Windows Phone — we survived.
Now there are only four commercially viable mobile operating systems left in the world and only one is from Europe:
• iOS (US)
• Android (US)
• HarmonyOS (China)
• Sailfish OS (Europe) ⭐️
This comeback isn't driven by investors or quarterly targets. It's driven by something simpler: We just love building products that actually deserves to exist. No fake-it-until-you-make-it. Just engineering, iteration, and a belief that Europe needs its own mobile platform.
The phone pre-order launches today at https://t.co/k5Eizb3tdu. 5G, dual-SIM, 12GB RAM, replaceable covers in Snow White, Kaamos Black, and The Orange (yes, THAT orange — nostalgia included).
If you believe #Europe should have alternatives to #BigTech, if you're tired of being the product instead of a respected customer, if you remember what it felt like when phones were tools instead of surveillance devices — this is for you.
We're not naive. We're just stubborn.
Welcome back, Jolla. 🇪🇺

The future of voice calls? We just demoed it.
At #CUG25 in Lisbon, we went live and fully integrated with:
✨ 3GPP IVAS – immersive, crystal-clear voice
📡 3GPP IMS Data Channel – share content during calls
A world-first over real IMS. Huge thanks to everyone involved! 🙌
After some week of learning and rumination, the Nokia N9 hardware repair service is out (beta).
It's a flat fee product which includes labor costs, spare part and shipping costs back to you (only EU is covered).

@JollaHQ@JollaHQ some days passed and no blog post mentioned above. do we still have some hope @samipienimaki will make it some day as it was hinted in #SailfishOS Community News back in March?

TBH I'm more than eager to read about what to expect in the future
@NokiaMobile for a moment I was hoping you are talking about bootloader of your devices - lime Sony does with their Open Devices...
#SailfishOS on Nokia device, oh...
A typical website visit in 2022
1. Figure out how to decline all but essential cookies
2. Close the support widget asking if I need help
3. Stop the auto-playing video
4. Close the “subscribe to our newsletter” pop-up
5. Try and remember why I came here in the first place
@KiriKrush@JollaHQ Or announcing a major vendor is going to use #SailfishOS for its top featurephones...
that would be a gamechanger because #SailfishOS is light years better than #KaiOS
