Two retired military officers allegedly linked to #India’s intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), were arrested in a midnight operation following prolonged surveillance, according to reports. Investigators are probing allegations that they raised funds for the ousted authoritarian faction and plotted covert attacks.

One of the accused, retired Lt. Col. Debashish, was compulsorily retired in 2022 and was reportedly a close associate of former army chief Gen. Aziz Ahmed, who is under US sanctions. He is also being investigated over alleged links to the smuggling of high-powered explosives into #Bangladesh.

The second accused, retired Lt. Gulshan Ara, is alleged to have worked with Indian handlers and Debashish to plan coordinated sabotage across the country. Investigators also allege that she used honey-trapping to obtain sensitive information from military officers.

আজ শিল্পকলা একাডেমির সামনে গ্রাফিতির দেয়ালে কালি দেওয়ার ঘটনায় কয়েকজনকে আটক করা হয়েছে। তাঁদের পরে ডিবি কার্যালয়েও নেওয়া হয়েছে।

এখানে প্রশ্নটা শুধু একটি প্রতিকৃতিতে কালি দেওয়া নিয়ে নয়; প্রশ্নটা রাষ্ট্রের আচরণে ধারাবাহিকতা ও সমতা নিয়ে।

জুলাইয়ের গ্রাফিতি মুছে দেওয়া এবং তাতে কালি লাগানোর ঘটনায় নিষিদ্ধ জ ঙ্গি ছাত্রলীগের নেতাকর্মীদের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ উঠেছে।

সেই অভিযোগগুলোর তদন্ত কত দূর এগিয়েছে? কতজনকে শনাক্ত করা হয়েছে? কতজনের বিরুদ্ধে ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হয়েছে? আজকের মতো তৎপরতা সেসব ঘটনায় আমরা কতটা দেখেছি?

প্রশাসন এর যুক্তি যদি হয়, জনপরিসরের দেয়ালে আঁকা প্রতিকৃতি নষ্ট করা গ্রহণযোগ্য নয়, তাহলে জুলাইয়ের স্মৃতিবাহী গ্রাফিতি নষ্ট করার ক্ষেত্রেও একই নীতি প্রযোজ্য হওয়া উচিত।

কোন ছবিতে কালি পড়েছে কিংবা কারা কালি দিয়েছে সেটা দেখে রাষ্ট্রের তৎপরতা বদলে গেলে সেই ব্যবস্থার নিরপেক্ষতা নিয়ে প্রশ্ন উঠবেই।

একটি ঘটনায় তাৎক্ষণিক আটক ও ডিবিতে নেওয়ার মতো পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া হলে, অন্য একই ধরনের ঘটনায় দৃশ্যমান অগ্রগতি না থাকার ব্যাখ্যাও দেয়া উচিৎ। ঘটনাগুলোর মধ্যে ব্যবস্থা নেওয়ার মতো প্রাসঙ্গিক পার্থক্য থাকলে প্রশাসন সেটি প্রকাশ করুক।

আজ যাঁদের আটক করা হয়েছে, তাঁদের বিরুদ্ধে সুনির্দিষ্ট অভিযোগ কী এবং ডিবিতে নেওয়ার কারণ কী সেটিও স্পষ্ট করা হোক। একই সঙ্গে জুলাইয়ের গ্রাফিতি নষ্ট করার অভিযোগগুলোর তদন্ত ও গৃহীত ব্যবস্থার হিসাব প্রকাশ করা হোক।

মূল কথা হলো একই ধরনের ঘটনায় একই মানদণ্ড অনুসরণ করা।প্রশাসন শক্তি শুধু কাউকে দ্রুত আটক করতে পারার মধ্যে নয়; সবার ক্ষেত্রে ন্যায্য ও সমান আচরণ করতে পারার মধ্যেও।
