City broke the British transfer record for a goalkeeper when they signed James Trafford 12 months ago. He was immediately replaced after his home debut by the highest paid goalkeeper in the world. He played a total of 2 more games after his home debut yet City have managed to sell him at a profit. 🚨 Breel Embolo should never have been sent off against Argentina. 🟥❌🇨🇭

IFAB has acknowledged that the VAR was used incorrectly during the incident.

The governing body clarified that video review can only be used to correct the identity of a cautioned player — not to overturn or upgrade a disciplinary sanction.

The ruling specifically applies to incidents involving simulation.

As a result, Embolo should never have been shown a red card in that World Cup quarter-final.

⚠️Michael Edwards leaving Liverpool illustrates one of the biggest issues MUFC is struggling with.

🔺It is quite simple, in European club football today — it can be very very valuable to have a feeder club or two abroad. Michael Edwards was promised by its US owners that Liverpool would acquire a second club — and resigned when they didn’t deliver on that promise.

This was also a hot topic when I was younger.

🔺Fergie had realized this before everyone else, and created a relationship with Royal Antwerpen in 1997. In total 32 youth players were loaned to Belgium. Including Johnny Evans and a few other prominent players. Tom Heaton too IIRC.

Why did Fergie do this? It is easy — he was obsessed with winning and he saw a novel way to get an advantage on our rivals.

🔺When Ineos came in — the idea was to create a Multi Club Ownership-group with Manchester United at the top. Racing Club Abidjan (Ivory Coast), FC Lausanne and OGC Nice had been acquired for this purpose.

However — more than 3 year in, the aspirations have almost collapsed completely. Sekou Kone has gone on loan to FC Lausanne — and that is about it.

🔺So what has the reactions around Manchester United been to Ineos dropping the ball on their aspirations to build a MCO to support MUFC?

Our rivals Chelsea and City are benefitting so much from their MCOs. City selling youth talent for about 50-100m yearly is evidence of it. That is what we would earn if we added another 50k capacity to Old Trafford.

Is there any outrage? Have there been any focus whatsoever on this field? For the club, it’s arguably as important as the new stadium. Nah, I’ve made a few posts about it but nothing else. I do think it’s noteworthy how little everyone around MUFC really care about the club improving.

There are a few people doing online content around my age who I recognize that obsession to win in, @markgoldbridge is one, @MrStephenHowson is another (he must get on the stadium task force), around my age.

But in general — I have to be honest — the general sentiment around this club nowadays is that we are too fancy to try to gain advantages. Because this is what this is about. We are United and should win regardless, we don’t need to work hard to win.

🔺And sure — a bunch of posh arguments can be made against creating a MCO to support MUFC. I don’t like MCOs, some will say. You shouldn’t be allowed to own more than one team, others will say. Arsenal and Liverpool aren’t part of MCOs and they are doing fine.

But it is allowed — so why should we care? It’s like not crowding the GK on corners because it’s not fancy.

And nobody had a relationship like we did with Royal Antwerpen, Blackburn won a PL in 1995 without one. Still Fergie created it. Why? He was obsessed with winning.
