i would say the african identity is inherently tied to blackness. majority of that continent is black, and even north african countries tend to distance themselves from africa due to their antiblackness
the only take on this that matters, if your ear is trained on r&b, it’s easy to understand most music. the only thing restrictive about the genre is how it’s marketed, not how it’s made.
@kevinobriencha1 they weren’t more lenient in the U.S. since they were further from Africa. they created breeding plantations in the states instead of making multiple journeys to Africa.
it’s ok for straight men to observe how patriarchal+heterosexist structures restrict authentic expression in heterosexual relationships. what i will not stand for is straight men acting like women have the structural power to oppress them just bc they don’t like bleached eyebrow
