Just finished up my first lot of interviews with stakeholders in the #MacquarieMarshes for my PhD chapter on #powerdynamics in #waterpolicy processes. Always interesting to talk to locals and see the changes in the landscape since my last visit in October last year.
Very excited that my first article has been published open access with @AustJIA! I analyse Australian discourses on Solomon Islands and RAMSI, arguing that they depend on carceral and colonial logics.

The Menindee ‘solution’ is about increasing irrigators water security & reducing our community’s.
No locals were consulted during the formation of the plan & Horne Legal are now lobbying MPs/ speaking at conferences.
Our community does not support it and will vocally oppose ❌
The Restoring our Rivers Bill passed through the Senate today. Along with allies we fought hard to secure important changes to the Water Act, plus funding and programs that will underpin improved water justice for First Nations in the Basin! 🧵
Great morning conducting interviews for my PhD chapters on stakeholder relationship dynamics in #environmentalwater advisory groups. Feels particularly relevant with new #legislation changes to the #MurrayDarlingBasin plan
Just finished another great week of interviews with stakeholders for the #macquariemarshes for my PhD chapter focusing on the role of relationship dynamics in meeting #ramsar#wetland#conservation outcomes. So great to see such enthusiasm and interest in the project from locals!
Saw this work presented at the @EcolSocAus conference in 2022 and it still shocks me. Definitely something to consider when we talk about inclusivity in STEM
How hard is it to do science in a language that’s not your first language? We quantified the severity of #languagebarriers for non-native English speakers when reading/publishing papers and attending/presenting at international conferences.

It’s an emergency - ecosystem collapse happening in front of us - one of the most important life giving ecosystems in NSW - where is the response. Where is the army, the Premier, the PM, the Enviro Ministers DO YOUR JOB @AlboMP@Dom_Perrottet@tanya_plibersek#nswpol#auspol
Today marks the 3rd pay cycle that @UNSW and @UNSWGRS have not paid the increased RTP stipend rate. My budget is out by ~$750 already - the equivalent of 6 weeks of groceries for 2. When we said #raisetheRTP we meant in OUR bank accounts, not as something for @UNSW to tweet 🙄
Enjoyed presenting the early stages of my thinking for my PhD project on the IMF’s gendered discourses from a queer theory perspective at the Currently Queer seminar today @Usyd_ssps. Appreciated the thoughtful comments that will inform the development of my research design ☺️
Also great article by @annefdavies for @GuardianAus citing our paper & report. Hope this emphasises the importance of accountability and transparency in decision making before ministers gather to review #BasinPlanReview in Feb. https://t.co/XswFQegG13
Our paper found the Menindee Lakes water-saving project lacked meaningful engagement and transparency in pursuit of unclear water savings for the #MurrayDarlingBasin plan.
