this is proof that liberals can do collective action. they just dont want to because they do not see black, brown, and trans people as people worth saving.
I can’t help but think about how many people I cared about would still be alive if we had universal healthcare and that people didn’t see the deaths of the disabled and chronically ill as a foregone conclusion.
"The freedom to fall in love is maybe the most radical act that they've allowed themselves to really dive into, and that's where you start really defining what it is that you want, what it is you want to protect and what you think the world should be." - Adam Scott #severance
i’m at the recession. i’m at the coup. i’m at the combination recession + coup + trade war + pentapandemic + stock market crash + healthcare system collapse + post 1.5°C global warming threshold + carbon sink depletion + antibiotic apocalypse + food shortages + microplastic world
The real choice Democrats face is not between a continuing resolution that allows the government to function normally or a government shutdown.
Under the Trump regime, the government is not functioning normally. It is already shutting down.
Why vote to legitimize Trump's coup?
“Democrats don't stand for anything and they haven't for a very long time..They do exactly what the corporate right does, which is to go back and forth about cultural issues hoping that nobody notices that 60% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Hoping that nobody notices that while life expectancies are great for the top 1%, you live 7 years less long...if you're in the bottom 50% of this country.
“And so as long as they're doing TikTok dances, or holding up paddles, or we're talking about 'wokeness,' or the mere 10 trans athletes that are in the NCAA, you can convince people to go to the polls and pull a lever for one side or the other, and 10/20/30 years from now they’ll wake up and say: What happen to my mortgage? What happened to my life? What happened to my ability raise a family and have kids?
“And that's exactly the conversation they want us to be having, instead of focusing on why it is that our government, run by corporatists and billionaires, regardless of if it's a Democratic government or a Republican government, consistently serves one segment of the population, and it's the very very rich.”
Senate Democrats should not allow this chaos to continue.
They can put a stop to it tomorrow.
CALL your Senator and ask them to vote NO on Cloture and NO on the Republican spending bill:

A recent study found that plants are losing their ability to take up CO2. This is just one out of several existential threats they face.
Plants and forests are also dying all over the world due to oxidative stress. The cause—ozone emitted by our modern industrial systems. 🧵

ngl it brings me to tears seeing this kind of laborious commitment to craft in an industry that increasingly avoids effort and bends over backwards to reduce time & expense. everything about this episode’s visual/filmic thoughtfulness really really moved me.
