It’s truly moving to see how the press have championed our call to action and amplified the voices of so many who have suffered in the music and entertainment industry. The media’s support has been powerful, and I’m incredibly grateful for it. However, while media attention is a great step, those in positions of power—those who can activate and implement real change—have still not acted. I have personally written to the Secretary of State for DCMS @lisanandy , the Minister of the DWP @DWPgovuk , and even the Prime Minister @10DowningStreet . Yet, despite the urgency, these communications remain unanswered. This isn’t a battle we can declare victory in with media alone—we need real action. I’ve had the honor of speaking with people like Guy Chambers and Brian Harvey, along with many former X Factor contestants who support this cause. Yet, I am still waiting to hear from others, including @robbiewilliams , who has also called for change. It’s time for those who have heard our voices to step up and make a real difference. This is a fight not just for those who have suffered but for the future of an industry that must protect and empower its people. It is imperative that those who have heard our voices now take action. A Cover-Up? It is with a heavy heart that I continue to reflect on the tragic passing of Liam. Losing him has reopened deep wounds from my own experiences and has brought to light once again the urgent need to address serious issues within the Music and Entertainment Industry. As we’ve seen in the media, conflicting stories continue to swirl around Liam’s death, leaving those who loved him searching for clarity and closure. Sadly, this confusion is all too familiar. My own history with an organisation that Liam and I were once bound to, has been fraught with painful, unresolved events. In 2015, I suffered a devastating violation—a sexual assault perpetrated by a senior member of Simon Cowell’s SyCo team, during a meeting that Simon Cowell had instructed. Simon Cowell was aware of what happened to me after a news outlet in 2017 requested comment from his team in response to an interview I felt brave enough to give thanks to the #metoo movement . This interview was stopped from being published and I was hounded by Simon Cowell’s Lawyers in an attempt for me to disclose my positioning, which confirmed they had the full account of the incident and seemingly tried to control the narrative. And yet despite Simon Cowell’s knowledge of this serious offence, he still kept this person on as an employee in a position of authority. In 2019, there was another incident involving another victim and the same perpetrator. Only then was this individual ‘allegedly sent away’ to the Netherlands, a move that felt less like accountability and more like an attempt to hide something. Coincidence? Perhaps. But to many, it looks more like a cover-up. These experiences leave me seriously questioning the ethics and priorities of organisations that are supposed to support and protect us. How many others are enduring their pain in silence, facing indifference or even CONCEALMENT from those in positions of power? It’s time for these companies, such as SyCo to be held accountable and for their actions to be brought into the light. We owe it to ourselves, to Liam’s memory, and to every person who has suffered in silence. We deserve answers.
