The #electionday2024 proved one major point for me. misinformation, disinformation, ‘fake news’ can all be right in front of one’s nose. Fact checked. Told that it’s a lie. Prove the lie to be a lie and STILL, it gets ignored. What good does the truth do anyway, eh?
@Nigel_Farage It’s incredulous you have the audacity to tell someone how to do their job. What judgement to make. What they ‘must’ do. Your job is to be in the UK, Clacton ideally, yet you judge it to be better to be anywhere but. An insult to the UK electorate in favour of the US and theirs.
@SayeedaWarsi Please share a link or information on further events. I’d love the opportunity to attend and show support for the work you are doing. 💕📗💕
To my mind, insurance is largely irrelevant. When one claims on their insurance, premiums are increased on future policies. No longer valuing from ‘no claims discounts’. There is no way that he should pay the cost for this. This is not his doing and should not be financially penalised.
Curve ball, but I’m going with @ITV. The moment they humanised @Nigel_Farage and allowed people to believe the version he portrayed on screen was the moment some people just lapped him up. At that point, everything started to shift.
No longer seen as the grifter, but a victim and ‘not that bad’. A wolf’s in sheep’s clothing spouting misinformation with a smirk.
So for me @ITV and @imacelebrity was the catalyst to a mainstream platform and reached people unlikely otherwise.
@Byron_Davies@DPJHodges Woah, woah, woah sweet child of mine. So you’re trying to tell us that the reason people are nicking bathbombs and crocs, is because of Rwanda? A reach at absolute best, as well you know but it gave you a little moment to remind us all of the hill the party was willing to die on.
Imagine a whole year of looking over your shoulder, curtain twitching at every car outside the house; it’s like a prison sentence before a prison sentence. But this is what happens when you believe what you hear and what you see and don’t fact check. It’s a lesson to us all.
A reminder
After the Aug 2011 riots, police & my prosecutors examined all the video evidence for MONTHS identifying & bringing offenders to justice - 1000s of them
Some didn’t get arrested till a year later!
Prison was the usual sentence
My boss was someone called Keir Starmer
As I sit here pondering how the #FarageRiots are taking hold and the amount of misinformation and manipulation fuelling it on I wonder, what would be happening if @jovanforclacton had won? I can say with some level of certainty that we wouldn’t face this.
It’s what happens when you give the idiots the mic.
@IsabelOakeshott Hang on one teeny second. Didn’t you say, effectively, that the @JustStop_Oil protests are ignorant, selfish and deluded? Is that not legitimate debate’ also? Your support of terrorising neighbourhoods, the police, innocent civilians is quite remarkable although not surprising.
@AlanJLSmith@UKLabour As a wealth manager for entrepreneurs, it’s a shame they didn’t reach out to you a while back when this all started going a little pear shaped. You’d do better channelling your efforts into advising them where they could be better at business than spreading mis and disinformation
I’m going to be that person.
The reason I’m watching The Hotel Inspector tonight whilst eating copious amounts of junk food and not the football is not because I don’t appreciate football, or I’m not patriotic. It’s actually very straightforward.
a @NCDV_Official report suggests that domestic violence rises by 26% when #ENGLAND play, 38% if they lose and 11% the following day regardless of the result. So I find it hard to be arsed when others can be scared and suffering.
So enjoy it if it’s your bag, but be safe, keep others safe and for the love of god, don’t be a goon. #Football is not, and never will be, worth life or death.
