Shocked and saddened by the tragic death of former Japanese PM Abe Shinzo. He was a great friend and ally to Australia. Deepest sympathies to his family and the people of Japan. We mourn with you.
Japan has lost its most important modern leader, Akie her dear husband and Australia a great friend. Struck down by an assassin, Abe Shinzo’s powerful positive impact on his country and our region will endure. Lucy and I send Akie and the Japanese people our deepest sympathy.
With the death of Shinzo Abe in an act of shocking violence, Australia has lost a great friend and Japan has lost its most significant post-war leader.
Under Abe, Japan assumed its rightful place as the leading democracy of the western Pacific.
I am shocked and saddened beyond words at the tragic demise of one of my dearest friends, Shinzo Abe. He was a towering global statesman, an outstanding leader, and a remarkable administrator. He dedicated his life to make Japan and the world a better place.
I pay tribute to a giant of democratic leadership in our time.
Vale Shinzo Abe. You demonstrated the value of economic liberalism. You championed the values that underpin peace, progress & opportunity.
Our thoughts are with the Japanese people following this tragedy. 🇦🇺🤝🇯🇵
@POTUS In the UK 26 years ago a gunman killed 14 elementary children and their teacher. In response the UK introduced some of the tightest gun controls in the world. It hasn’t happened again. It’s that simple.
It’s been two weeks since inflation figures were released
But, @ScottMorrisonMP still won’t admit there’s a cost-of-living crisis
Will Morrison finally admit that we’re in a cost-of-living crisis during tonight’s #LeadersDebate?
