I loved PBS so much as a child that I often professed about wanting to be a ZOOM kid. Then auditions came around (local) and I didn't know about them, but my uncle took my cousin and she was "almost selected". Thank dog she wasn't or this might have been my villain origin story.

Today we honor Zoom (the 1999 series). The show is a reboot of the original Zoom from the 70s.
Though this version made its debut to PBS Family’s on January 4th 1999 27 years ago.
Now this is how you do a reboot, y’know a reboot is good when it’s better than the original.
Growing up, I watched PBS Kids because my parents didn’t believe in paying for TV. That was my childhood — educational shows like Arthur, Reading Rainbow, and Zoom helped shape how I learned, imagined, and saw the world.
It’s heartbreaking to see that funding for something so vital is constantly under threat. PBS Kids provides free, accessible educational content to millions of low-income families. For many kids, it’s their only access to early learning and positive representation.
I’m really disappointed in the decision made by this administration.
