Some of the sights we saw on the lantern walk on Nov. 4.

Today in our intro to African American Studies class we talked to pulitzer prize winner Darryl Fears. He told us how he went to Howard University and how he was pushed to pursue academic excellence as well as excellence in every area of his life- this he said got him where he is.
After reading “Barracoon,” I realized i didn’t know as much as i thought I did.
Tomorrow I get to go to Africatown and ask real people who had real experiences living there.

So excited to go to Africatown tomorrow and get to learn about the culture and history that the Heritage museum talks about! Excited to be pushed out of my comfort zone and learn new things.
