🗣️ Novak Djokovic says he's very happy the students defeated Vucic in the Serbian elections:
Djokovic: "I'm very happy about this. My deepest respect to the students who fought and shown dignity and resilience. I have lots of admiration for what they've done. They managed to create a sense of pride in Serbia and in the world. The victory is secure and we all now have hopes that our country will be prosperous and enjoying the future that is coming."
Lokalna samouprava ostaje njihova do sledećih izbora.
Delusional doesn't even begin to cover it, and the world has no clue how deep it goes. But it will certainly be fascinating for us once he completely loses his grip on power. He’s not gone yet—he still controls 100+ parliamentary seats with immunity plus most of the local municipalities, but the struggle continues. He clearly doesn't know how to take a loss.
When he’s finally completely down and realizes it, expect non-stop crying about who he betrayed and who ended up throwing him under the bus, alongside revelations of some dirty deals made with foreign politicians to keep him in power. Serbia will never forget 1999, and things will get very interesting if he starts exposing every single deal he made with your officials...
While I appreciate your polite tone, you are unfortunately doing the exact opposite of what you claim to advocate for. By pushing a false propaganda narrative, you continue to meddle in Serbian politics from the outside.
I was 17 when the civil war in SFR Yugoslavia broke out, and 25 when the US-led NATO bombed my country. I lived through it all right here in Serbia. With all due respect, I don't need lectures on our history or current affairs from someone who never witnessed any of it firsthand.
I certainly don't need an outside perspective on events I actually lived through.
@ZemunBR@MarioNawfal We could even argue that not only do we owe them nothing, but in the cases of the US, UK, and the EU (Germany mostly), we actually have outstanding claims against them.
People are running high on adrenaline, the pent-up anger goes deep, and there will always be extremists everywhere. I don't think this will repeat itself—all political representatives of the incoming administration have publicly called on people to abstain from violence, as it clearly doesn't serve their interest. The vast majority, no matter how much they want legal accountability, simply does not want to see scenes like this.
As a Serb living in Serbia who witnessed everything that happened over the last two years, I can tell you only one thing about that post:
TOTAL LIE!
The Serbian people did NOT vote for NATO or the EU. The Student List movement and its elected representatives have already made their positions crystal clear:
• No NATO & No Forced EU Agenda: NATO is an absolute NO. EU membership is not a priority and will only go to a referendum where the vast majority of Serbs will vote on it.
• No Sanctions: Serbia will NOT impose sanctions on Russia or China. Sanctions do not serve our sovereign national interest.
• Kosovo: Kosovo and Metohija is the constitutional part of Serbia. 90% of Serbs will never give up on that land, and recognition is completely off the table.
• Investments & Projects: Infrastructure projects will not be canceled; they will simply be audited for corruption and embezzlement. Fair contracts remain.
• Domestic Focus: The election was not about serving foreign agendas (whether EU, US Democrats, or anyone else). It was about destroying 30 years of internal corruption, restoring the rule of law, and protecting Serbian sovereignty.
@franceinfo As a Serb living in Serbia who witnessed everything that happened over the last two years, I can tell you only one thing about this post:
TOTAL LIE AND FALSEHOOD!
As a citizen of Serbia, I can say that your breakdown is remarkably accurate and well-analyzed. Just a few minor points to add to your analysis:
• On Kosovo & Metohija: Jovo Bakić wasn't alone during that RT interview, and the position on Kosovo being a constitutional part of Serbia has been a core pillar of the movement since day one. Furthermore, Ilija Srdanović explicitly stated the intention to strengthen state support for the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as in Republika Srpska.
• Unity in Diversity: The elected representatives come from all walks of life with diverse personal views and perspectives—they are not former politicians. However, they were chosen because every single one of them agreed on a non-negotiable principle: Serbia and its national interests come first and above all else.
Great summary overall—rare to see an outsider capture the situation so accurately.
There definitely are. The list includes doctors, scientists, artists, farmers, lawyers, and proven professionals from all walks of life.
However, if you mean factory workers with just basic education—no. The core idea of this movement is to put high-level experts with extensive knowledge and real-world experience into places where they can set things right. The representatives were chosen so that whenever a decision needs to be made on any specific topic, there is always someone among them who has actually worked in that field for years and understands it inside out, rather than a professional politician.
You are completely misinformed about what just happened in Serbia.
The Serbian people did NOT vote for NATO or the EU. The Student List movement and its elected representatives have already made their positions crystal clear:
• No NATO & No Forced EU Agenda: NATO is an absolute NO. EU membership is not a priority and will only go to a referendum where the vast majority of Serbs will vote yes or no.
• No Sanctions: Serbia will NOT impose sanctions on Russia or China. Sanctions do not serve our sovereign national interest.

Stop projecting foreign narratives onto our victory. Serbs voted for internal justice, national dignity, and strict independence.
@notards86@IsinElicin They did. Look at this lady's profile and you'll find the post with the students' program—since we're already discussing her post.
Infrastructure Projects (Expo, Railways, etc.): The movement never said they would cancel major infrastructure projects. The goal is transparency—reviewing contracts the previous regime kept secret. Every fair contract will be honored; any deal involving corruption or embezzlement will face an audit or cancellation. This guy just have personal moment.
• Internal Reform First: The main goal is building strong, uncorrupted domestic institutions.
• EU & Foreign Policy: EU membership is simply not a priority right now, and most Serbs just don't buy the narrative that the EU is our only savior anymore. It will eventually go to a referendum, but right now the focus is internal. NATO is an absolute NO.
• Economy & Projects: We are not against infrastructure or development—we just demand 100% transparency. Fair contracts will be honored, corrupt ones audited. However, lithium will not be mined here.
• National Interests: Kosovo remains a constitutional part of Serbia, and sanctions against Russia do not serve our national interest.
We are not choosing poverty; we are choosing sovereignty, justice, and sorting out our own country on our own terms.
No one stands behind these students except the Serbian people.
The elected representatives are not an old party or established organization—many of them didn't even know each other before this. They were chosen strictly for their expertise, knowledge, and proven life accomplishments. What unites them is a deep love for the country and a commitment to our national interests—which was precisely the main issue with the previous regime.
If one or two stray, the rest will remove them. If the majority deviates, the students proposed them and the people elected them, so the people can easily remove them too. For decades, we had "experienced" politicians whose only experience was stealing and selling off the nation. Since we have zero trust in professional politicians, we brought in experts from every required field as a replacement. As one of them put it: "We may lack political experience, but we have knowledge and integrity."
There is no perfect solution, but the die is cast and we will see. This point was reached thanks to the student movement, which fought for two years against a regime with total control over the state, police, and media. They won without making a single wrong move, acting strictly in the national interest, which is why we trust them implicitly.
What happened here is a long story—so unbelievable that even as someone living through it, it's hard to explain to an outsider who doesn't fully grasp the last 30 years of our history.
