What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work.
My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.
@Saanvi_dhillon I know this is twitter, but seriously, there's never really a good reason to ask "language trivia" in an interview.
Just have a discussion about problems solved, ask them to write some real code.
No trivia, no "one weird trick", no leet code
@OsitaNwanevu A+ tweet.
The fact that Clinton chose Liberace as his comparison, and Obama chose Cheesecake Factory, is telling about the difference between them.
Obama was an intellectual. Clinton is in many ways like Trump, kind of smarmy but w instinct for what will play with common Joe.
@PR0GRAMMERHUM0R I know people will say XKCD said it first.
But actually Don knuth speaks of this in the art of computer programming in his section on random numbers.
21 years ago I named "Reddit" and everyone said it was a horrible name, but I insisted one day people would say "I read it on reddit" and used my CEO-privilege to overrule everyone + kept the name. Now the company twitter account (unbeknownst to them) is making the joke. Heh.
I am so much more exhausted when I program with AI than without it. I reflected a bit, and I think I know why.
First, I think about how to solve a problem. This step is the same with and without AI. Then, with AI I have to write a prompt with a decent bit of precision and somewhat more long-term than if I just jumped into straight implementing it and figuring out the details as I go.
Then you start up the agent, and you immediately have some other work to do and you jump to another prompt for another task, where you also think really hard and try to formulate what you want quite well.
By the time you're done, first agent has some code for you to review, and you can't slack - you need to actually review it and be diligent about it. And when you're done - second task is there for your review. So really there's not time to rest.
When I program manually, I can decompress while typing the code in, I can rely on my muscle memory for typing and navigating the codebase, so there's periods of deep think and some relaxation. With AI, there's only deep think. And as soon as you try to think less - you open the doors for slop.
It's so tiring.
