Diesel hit $6.28. Independent truckers are done. Trump has 11 days to prevent an economic collapse.

Stock up on essentials while you can. I don’t expect this to be prolonged, but you never know.

And they have had enough. And I don’t blame them. A nationwide strike starts October 1st.

I would not treat this as a social media rumor. This is happening.

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association has been warning about this for months. Shelley Koch runs K&J Trucking and has fifty years in this business. She explained that the biggest hardship is cash flow. It takes cash out of your business immediately.

At these prices, that cash flow just dried up.

The math is brutal.

A long-haul trucker burning 150 gallons per thousand miles paid $562 for fuel at last year’s prices. Today that same fill-up costs $942. That is $380 more per trip.

Freight rates have not kept pace. Owner-operators are running loads at a loss or parking their rigs entirely.

Now they are organizing.
