@grillitype There are plenty of successful, independent type foundries that don't partner with MT. More power to you. Go direct. There are far more 5 and 6 figure licensing deals today than there were 10 years ago which should be attributed to MT's efforts educating and building the market.

@grillitype Enforcement conversations are difficult. MT has a lot of salespeople. In my time, those that were most successful were empathetic to the challenges of staying compliant and mindful of the longterm relationship while obtaining fair value for the type.

@grillitype It's easy to criticize Monotype because of their scale. But they've effectively created the enterprise licensing market which smaller foundries benefit from, whether they partner with Monotype or not.

@grillitype Hard to judge this specific instance without knowing the usage and existing licensing, but its not uncommon for usage of organizations big and small to be greatly exceed their licenses. Why should Monotype or any other foundry not enforce licensing or expect fair value for usage?
