Please join me in supporting
this wonderful idea. A statue of Terry in Colwyn Bay.
The idea for a statue came from Terry’s friends at Theatr Colwyn in Colwyn Bay. Terry was their first, and only, patron for some time. After we lost him to dementia in January 2020, they contacted us and asked if we thought a statue of Terry might be something we could help them with.
Born in Colwyn Bay, Terry never got over being transplanted to Surrey at the age of five. He fiercely proclaimed his Welshness in an accent straight out of Guildford. Terry would be so proud if a statue of him could encourage people to visit Colwyn Bay and continue his passion to help promote the arts in North Wales. The plan is to have a life size statue, sat on the promenade in Colwyn Bay not on a plinth but on the ground next to kids eating ice cream in the summer and brave souls donning wetsuits for a winter dip in the bay. We thought he would like it best if he was in character, something for people to recognise with a chuckle.
To make a donation please do so here https://t.co/4uawuadR81 Go Fund Me will guide you through the process, or if you would like to make it directly to the charity I can send you their details. We are at the very beginning of our campaign. We are hoping to succeed without public funding, and would love to raise £120,000 with the support of his friends and fans around the world. Colwyn Bay gave us Terry and we are hoping to give something back.
Today is #NationalGarlicDay and vampires really hate garlic so this seems like a good day to remind you all that if Bram Stoker hadn't come across the name Dracula while researching his famous vampire novel in a #library, the main character was going to be called Count Wampyr.
A fascinating national/local divide here. When I worked for a west London council that is home to a high % of BBC talent, I got very used to well-known names wading very publicly into local political controversies, criticising the council leadership etc. No-one raises an eyebrow.
Here are some of the latest developments in the strange story of how four public bodies are trying to spend over £9m on a very large breakwater and pontoon in the village of Kilcreggan, despite nobody asking for this.
The issue of 16 year old candidates is a difficult one and one I don't yet have a view on, but the general tenor of this column is yet another instance of the absolute contempt that older generations hold youth in when it comes to democracy. Appalling.

Work in an office. A few weeks ago I did a cartwheel for a laugh as I walked in. The team loved it. Now I'm expected to do one every day coming in. It was a complete fluke so now every morning I come in and am forced to tumble around on my arse until they're fed up laughing. Help
Shaking. Just got hit and run while cycling with my child. Who on earth does that? Somehow I stayed on the bike. I screamed. A person on the pavement who saw it shouted "oh my god" for fear we were going to be killed. I don't think I've ever been so scared when cycling before.
