Watch Legend of Kumbha featuring Kanika Kapoor and composed by Siddhant Bhatia. This is one of 12 tracks from the album “Sounds of Kumbha”, a Network18 production that has been nominated for the 68th Grammy Awards in the Best Global Music Album category. The album was commissioned as a cultural initiative by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and is being globally distributed by Universal Music India.
Recorded across continents, the album brings together over 50 artists from India and around the world. Designed to capture the spirit of the Mahakumbha, the monumental religious gathering in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, which welcomed over 600 million pilgrims during its 45-day celebration in January and February 2025, the project blends global musical vocabularies with India’s spiritual heritage.
The album includes spiritually rooted twelve original compositions - Legend of Kumbha, Colours of Kumbha, Ram Ram, Maya, Wheel of Time, Shiva Shiva, Sangam, Innerverse, Bala Krishna, Reflections, Guru and Durga Trance. These pieces reimagine ancient chants, river invocations, mythological narratives and meditative experiences through contemporary global soundscapes while staying true to India’s spiritual ethos.
Produced by Siddhant Bhatia along with Jim “Kimo” West, Madi Das, Ron Korb, Charu Suri, Raghav Mehta and Devraj Sanyal, the album features a distinguished lineup of Indian and international artists. Key contributors include Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Bhanumathi Narasimhan, V. Selvaganesh, Raja Kumari, Kanika Kapoor, Aditya Gadhvi, Kala Ramnath, Yashraj, Pravin Godkhindi and several others.
Reflecting the Mahakumbha’s identity as the world’s largest peaceful congregation, the album embodies India’s message of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, One Earth, One Family, One Future”.
As Sounds of Kumbha reaches audiences across the globe, it carries forward the legacy of the Mahakumbha, India’s timeless festival of peace, ensuring that its message of unity continues to resonate through music.
