Why Afiq Fazail barely plays for Malaysia? He won MVP and best midfielder award three times in his career.

He won 25 trophies with JDT and it’s even incredible he only played with JDT in his entire career.

Yet he only played 9 matches for Malaysia. 7 as starter, 2 as subs and 1 non-FIFA match. Malaysia only lost 2 games when he played.

He already played 164 matches with JDT since 2017. He will be 32 years old this September.

He didn’t even play a single game for Malaysia this year. If he’s winning everything, surely he’s a good player and he should have played more for Harimau Malaya. Not only that, he should be an integral part to the national team.

Look at player in similar position like Rodri and Declan Rice, they both became an important player for their respective countries.

Best player in the league should have been a starter for the national team.

Minggu lepas tengah lepak macam biasa dengan kawan-kawan. Tiba-tiba aku cakap, “Minggu depan lepak tak jadi, kena turun JB.”
“Kenapa?”
“Nak tolong legal team BERSAMA. Nak join tak?”
Terus Amir jawab, “Menarik ni. Biasa aku duduk rumah main PS je hujung minggu.”

Daripada satu soalan yang spontan, terus aku mula telefon beberapa orang lagi. Ramai antara kami masih chambering. Lepas tu aku call beberapa kawan peguam yang lebih berpengalaman untuk guide kami. Alhamdulillah, mereka pun terus setuju nak turun sekali.

Akhirnya, kami ada 10 orang yang sanggup turun sebagai sebahagian daripada legal team untuk membantu calon-calon BERSAMA pada hari pengundian semalam.

Bagi aku, politik memang sesuatu yang aku minat sejak zaman sekolah lagi. Tapi yang lebih bermakna, kebanyakan kawan-kawan yang ikut semalam bukan ahli parti dan bukan juga orang yang aktif berpolitik. Mereka tak datang kerana nama, ganjaran atau apa-apa imbuhan. Mereka datang semata-mata kerana percaya bahawa setiap orang boleh menyumbang ke arah Malaysia yang lebih baik.

Peranan kami semalam kecil sahaja. Membantu calon-calon membuat laporan polis berkaitan kesalahan pilihan raya dan mengenal pasti pelanggaran undang-undang pilihan raya.

Ya, BERSAMA kehilangan deposit di kesemua 15 kerusi yang ditandingi. Tapi bagi aku, itu bukan ukuran segalanya. Yang penting, BERSAMA memberikan saingan yang bermaruah. Dan selagi aku tahu masih ada kawan-kawan yang belum berputus asa dengan negara ini, selagi itu kami akan terus buat apa yang betul.

Terima kasih kepada semua yang sanggup mengharungi “jam”, tidur cuma 4 jam, dan tetap turun menjalankan tanggungjawab masing-masing. Apa yang kami buat semalam hanyalah “a drop in the ocean”.

@rafiziramli , @niknazmi pasukan di HQ dan semua calon telah bertungkus-lumus sepanjang sebulan kempen. Pengorbanan mereka jauh lebih besar daripada apa yang kami lakukan.
Semoga ini bukan yang terakhir.

I just finished my stint as a PACA at a school in Johor Bahru (JB), which is an absolute UMNO stronghold. I was assigned to Saluran 4, specifically designated for young Malay Gen-Z voters in the area. In fact, a quick glance at the voter list confirmed it was 100% Malay Gen-Z.
Before diving into the details, I want to share a quick story from the day before. On Friday, while on the express bus down to Johor, I called a friend who is a BN Sabah member. I told him I was going to be a PACA in Kampung Majidee, representing the Bersama party.
He immediately burst out laughing and asked, "Are you crazy?!" He warned me to brace myself for getting zero votes, explaining that it is an impenetrable UMNO/BN fortress. "Exactly like Sabah," he joked. "Give money and settle." Still laughing, he asked which stream (saluran) I was handling. When I told him it was Saluran 4 for Gen-Z, he laughed even harder. "Sure get zero, lah! Kena tebal muka bro kalau dapat kosong," he teased. I laughed nervously and replied, "Harap pecah telur lah, bro," and we shared a good laugh.
Fast forward through a long election day, we finally reached the grand finale: the vote counting.
Everything went smoothly while sorting the voting slips. But when it came time to announce the votes for each party, I had to fight to keep my composure, as my friend's teasing was still echoing in my head. 😂
When the counting began, they opened the first batch of 100 slips. The SPR officer announced them one by one, calling out "Barisan, Barisan" almost the entire way, with PH and PN picking up just a few. Once the first 100 were finished, they opened the second batch... and still, zero for Bersama. The atmosphere in the room was incredibly tense and quiet until, out of nowhere, I jokingly blurted out, "Bersama bagi satu lah!" The SPR officer, my fellow PACAs, and the police all burst out laughing. 😂😂😂
As they opened the third batch of 100 slips, the announcements were still dominated by BN, alongside a smattering of PH and PN votes. Suddenly, the SPR officer paused for about two seconds, looked at me, and announced, "One for Bersama!" I instantly replied, "Finally! 😂😂" and the whole room erupted in laughter again. I wasn't sure if they pitied me or just found the timing funny.
After that first vote for Bersama, it went right back to BN, BN, BN. However, as the third batch progressed, it became a bit more balanced among BN, PH, and PN, and Bersama managed to secure a few more, bringing our total to four. Towards the very end, I joked again, "Kurang-kurang bagi lah lima votes!" The room laughed once more. By the end of the count, a total of seven Gen-Z voters in that saluran had voted for Bersama.
Humor aside, the real takeaway from this experience is that I am genuinely impressed by those seven Gen-Z voters who went against the grain to vote for Bersama in such a stronghold.
To be fair, you have to give credit to UMNO-BN Johor for controlling the narrative so effectively and mobilizing their pool of Malay Gen-Z voters to come out and vote. To my surprise, the youngest Gen-Z demographic, taking up about two whole pages on the voter list, roughly 50 people all showed up to cast their ballots. Kudos to UMNO-BN for securing the Gen-Z vote, regardless of the methods they used, only God knows.

An update on my first time as a PACA alone... it was a very funny experience! I think I was assigned to a hardcore UMNO Malay area in JB, but the KTM and all the staff were actually very friendly. Funny enough, Bersama Malaysia might have been testing our mettle because they gave me a yellow file and a yellow lanyard!

​At first, the hardcore locals seemed a bit hostile or suspicious, probably wondering why this Chinese-looking guy from Sabah was in their area. I was sitting outside the polling station as early as 7:15 AM. I basically turned into a customer service agent, plastering a smile on my face because every time people walked past, they would stare at me. So, I just tried to be friendly and smiled back every single time. 😂😂
​At 7:45 AM, I registered with the KTM, and he greeted and welcomed me. Before I went to my seat to fill out the form, he leaned in a bit and whispered, "From Bersama kah?" 😂 I whispered back, "Iya, tuan." He just smiled and told me to head to the table. After registering everything, I sat right between the PH and BN agents. Once voting started, things were a bit slow at the beginning because my saluran was for Gen Z. I’m naturally a neutral, easygoing, but very reserved guy. The Chinese aunty from PH was very friendly, and we chit-chatted in whispers, helping each other out. Meanwhile, the BN kakak was very fierce at first...

At one point, a pair of Gen-Z twins came in to vote. I said to myself, "Oh, they're twins," and suddenly the fierce BN kakak replied, "Iya dik, kembar tu... orang Sarawak..." (Yes dik, they are twins... they're from Sarawak). I just went, "Ooh..."

​After that conversation, we became quite friendly. Funny enough, she seemed to know the names of all the Gen-Z voters. Every single time, before Pegawai 1 could even announce the voter number, she would already be whispering it to me—like, "1546, that's his number," or "1982, that's her number," and so on. 😂😂 It helped me out a lot, though I kept wondering how on earth she knew!

​Around 11:00 AM, my session ended. HQ had instructed us volunteers to take a rest break between 11:00 AM and report back at 3:30 PM. My Ketua PACA took me out for lunch, and around 12:30 PM, they offered to drop me off at a mall. But I said, "Just drop me off at the Pusat Mengundi (polling station), I'll just wait there until 3:30 PM to report for duty."

​Once again, I switched back into customer service mode, offering smiles and greetings to everyone passing by. Eventually, a Malay guy around my age greeted me and asked, "From Bersama ke?" I said yes, and he whispered to me that he had actually attended our grand finale ceramah the night before! We had a good laugh together, and after a bit of chit-chat, he left because his wife was done voting.

​As I write this, I’m still sitting at the bus stop, waiting out the last hour before my next roster. Life can be so funny sometimes. It’s just my nature to be friendly, and so far, I feel really blessed to have this experience. I'm just enjoying the moment, though I still can't shake off the amusement of how the orang kampung look at me every time they see this yellow file! 😂😂
