Posting unpopular opinion and probably getting canceled:
Never thought I’d be protecting this little shit, but this post is so out of context that it’s easier to believe I’m a ballerina at the Royal Opera.
Okay, I get it, people are somehow angry at Deniz, tho I genuinely can’t find a reason to be angry at him besides the fact that he’s basically written as a cockblocker.

But the situation people are comparing?

Deniz is in the car WITH HIS FATHER. A man he knows, a man he trusts, and a man who literally saved him from being kidnapped. Why exactly would he throw a tantrum when he’s with one of his parents?
When he asks his dad about his mother, and yes, he ASKS about her because he has no reason to panic, HE IS WITH HIS FATHER, Cihan tells him she will come. And that literally calms him down because he knows his father isn’t lying to him.

Is it wrong for a kid to want to grow up around his family? Have you actually asked yourself that question?

When he says he wants to go back home, is it wrong for him to want that?
Is Deniz responsible for his mother’s defensive mechanism being RUN AWAY every time something happens? Or, by reliving her own trauma every time, is his mother unintentionally making her kid relive the same trauma of never really belonging anywhere?

And now let’s get to the "ungrateful brat who doesn’t want his mother" part because I appreciate fandom fish memory sm.
Deniz wanted to be with his mother throughout the WHOLE custody plot. Why? Because he didn’t feel safe or secure with Boran. It’s literally as simple as that.
So why is he suddenly okay with not having his mother next to him for some time when he’s at Albora konak? Why is he choosing Albora?
Well, let’s be clear, he’s mostly choosing Cihan.
Because the kid feels safe with him.
The bond between the two Cihans was created naturally and evolved naturally. Deniz chose him as his father. He chose him as the person who protects him, who makes him feel safe, who he can trust. And it’s genuinely one of the most beautiful relationship progressions in this dizi besides CihAl.

Now "but in early S1 he chose Albora too, before he even knew them".
True. I can’t really defend him there besides saying HE WAS A KID. A kid who had just lost his father and suddenly found himself surrounded by his extended family for the first time. Of course the temptation to stay was there, especially when he didn’t even fully understand what was happening around him.

But it’s literally funny how everyone suddenly forgets what happened when his mother was nowhere to be found.
The kid was throwing tantrums. He was having nightmares. He was a pain in the ass for literally everyone because nobody could calm him down.
Except Cihan.

And THAT is what eventually pushed Cihan to call Alya himself and tell her to come back to the konak.

It’s so easy to take the kid out of context and turn him into some ungrateful brat who "never chooses his mother", when in reality Deniz has chosen his mother MULTIPLE times.

But can we really blame him for choosing Cihan too?

Isn’t wanting your mom AND dad, the two people you love and feel safe with, together with you probably the most normal wish a kid could have?
