Chelsea has asked UEFA to excuse them from this season’s UEFA Champions League and any other European competition due to personal reasons.

UEFA sent a representative to find out the reason and persuade Chelsea to participate this season, given the club’s influence and importance to European competitions.

Chelsea, however, stood firm and insisted on taking a season-long break, while assuring UEFA that they would be back in the competition next season.

UEFA, although unhappy with the decision, has accepted Chelsea’s request and urged the club to make sure they return to European competition next season, because these competitions simply cannot function properly without Chelsea.
