🚨 Ça c'est Jean Phil.

Il y a trois jours, personne ne le connaissait. Aujourd’hui, Internet est en train de devenir complètement obsédé par lui.

Sous le nom de Jean Philanthrope (jean_philanthrope), cet étrange personnage à la coupe blonde improbable, à la moustache parfaitement dessinée, au costume rétro et au visage un peu étrange est apparu sur Instagram le 18 septembre.

Le 20 septembre, son compte comptait déjà 85 000 abonnés, 5 publications et près de 45 millions de vues cumulées. Depuis, le compteur continue de grimper à une vitesse assez folle, dépassant désormais les 100 000 abonnés en moins de trois jours.

Le phénomène s'est rapidement propagé au-delà d'Instagram et circule désormais sur TikTok et les autres réseaux. Son visage est détourné, transformé en mème, utilisé comme photo de profil et une cryptomonnaie $JEANPHIL a même été créée autour du personnage.

Mais le plus fascinant à observer dans cette histoire, c'est que personne ne semble réellement savoir qui, ou même quoi, est Jean Phil...

Certains sont persuadés qu'il s'agit d'un véritable homme jouant volontairement un personnage.

D'autres pensent que tout est généré ou fortement modifié par intelligence artificielle.

De mon côté, je pense que c’est entièrement généré par une IA. Mais malgré le fait que je travaille dans l’image depuis des années, et avec l’IA depuis quelque temps maintenant, je dois avouer que si c’est réellement le cas, c’est bluffant à absolument tous les niveaux.

Pour l'instant, aucune source suffisamment solide ne permet de trancher définitivement.

Nous sommes arrivés à un point de bascule jamais vu auparavant où des millions de personnes peuvent regarder exactement les mêmes images sans être capables de déterminer avec certitude si la personne qu'elles voient existe réellement.

Jean Phil est peut-être simplement le mème absurde de la semaine ou alors un phénomène qui va marquer un tournant.

Ce qui est certain c'est qu'il est une parfaite illustration de notre époque où la frontière entre le réel et l'artificiel est devenue tellement fine que même nos propres yeux ne suffisent déjà plus à distinguer le vrai du faux...
