By Jacobine Nangolo

When Individuals apply for funding, they often start with the big picture: “If we receive this loan, we will grow revenue from N$ 2 million to N$ 5 million.”

The presentation may be impressive, and the projections may look attractive.

However, once the numbers are broken down, the underlying economics may not always make sense. This is where the analysis needs to start:

What actually happens to the money once it is put into the business? This is where unit economics becomes important.

Take a chicken farming business. Before looking at the size of the farm or its projected revenue, we first need to understand what the business is producing.

Is it farming broilers for meat or layers for eggs?
That distinction immediately changes the economics of the business.

How many public hospitals do we have?

[Namibian Sun @namibiansun]

State employees will be required to use designated public hospitals – from 1 April this year - as part of sweeping reforms to the government’s medical aid fund, the Public Service Employees Medical Aid Scheme (Psemas).

Are there certain sectors that they are targeting?

Colleagues.. Are you guys ngo aware of the N$257 Million Youth Entrepreneurship Loan Facility that was "launched" by GRN which allows you to receive a loan ranging from N$60 000 - N$200 000?

Interesting. Yet we can benefit from both.

Fuel in, Futures out

Namibia is set to become Southern Africa’s fuel warehouse. Not by accident—by design.

Nigeria’s Dangote refinery, the largest in Africa, plans to park 1.6 million barrels of refined product in Walvis Bay.
It's a logistical win: the port is well-placed and still has room to grow.

But here’s the problem. We are building the shelves before we stock our own product. Namibia will host everyone else’s oil before producing a drop of its own.

Anyway, only if these nomads will be able to increase the countries ECI through bringing in expertise that we lack and is able to really encourage employment. Only then can I support them coming here

[Shekulific @ZwilingJacky]

We have cases in developed countries where foreigners have driven property prices to an all-time high. Countries like Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, to name a few.

We are now starting to see such cases in South Africa, namely Cape Town.

[Shekulific @ZwilingJacky]

What we need is not "economic complexity," solved by foreigners.

Foreigners have been in the country for how many years now? Have we seen any changes?

How sure are we that when these nomads that come here will indeed invest in the country rather than just drive up prices?

[wolf. 🐺 @EnosMcManni]

@nduuvundika I really get your point and you arent wrong. But our country really needs economic complexity — which should include us opening up for remote workers (nomads), investors and wealthy foreign individuals with patient capital who are willing to live and also invest in our startups.

Who is this question directed, too?

Are you not one supposed to answer your own question or rather seek to get an answer from your fellow colleagues in parliament?

You can load your bakkie to the max, but you must leave space for a spare wheel. Political parties have promised every thing, but have they comforted us with policies to overcome difficult times?

[RogueAcademic @KaseraBM]

I appreciate that NNN’s administration wants to pump 85 billion into the economy for job creation. But this is a disaster brewing, a reactionary vision and one that will hurt the very people it promises to help. Here is why I think the whole 500K jobs vision can’t be true:

[Ndatulumukwa Haikali @NdatuHaikali]

We must never allow outsiders who are paid to influence our politics and election. Namibians preserve right to chart a course that reflects our unique history, culture, and aspirations.

We take pride in the progress our GRN has made under the leadership of the SWAPO party.
