@markuseful Not mentioned is the ease in which Transformer based LLM models can be customised via transfer learning with new data: typically this takes only minutes (depending on the volume of data) and not days/weeks with LSTM NMT systems. This can lead to rapid improvements in quality.

@markuseful I would also question the use of the emotionally loaded 'significantly' adjective. PaLM's performance, I would posit, is not 'significantly' different in statistical terms from the WMT results.
