I’ve seen quite a few people mention that the name “Piya” also means “beloved” in Hindi. 🥰
Actually, most Thai names today are influenced by Pali and Sanskrit, largely due to the spread of Buddhism and Brahmanism in Thailand.
In the past, Thai names tended to be short and simple rather than elaborate. But when members of the royal family began using beautiful, elegant words from Pali and Sanskrit as names, ordinary people gradually followed suit because those names sounded so lovely and meaningful.
For example, Newwiee’s Thai name, “Thitipoom” is also derived from Pali and Sanskrit. The name is a combination of two words:
🔅 “Thiti” comes from Pali and means “stability” or “a state of being established.”
🔅 “Poom” comes from both Pali and Sanskrit and means “land” or “earth.”
Together, “Thitipoom” can be interpreted as “a land of great stability.” 🪨😆
Third posted on Instagram, said nahhh, that's not enough. Took it to his story, still wasn't satisfied, and proceeded to post in his broadcast channel too. 😩😭
JUSTICE FOR THE SINGLES PLEASE! 😔😂
